I delivered to a C & S Wholesale (former Marsh Groceries) outside of Indianapolis ,IN. I was late, and the clerk said there was a penalty for that. But I don't really know what that means.

You would also get a penalty if you went to the receiving window w/o your bills in hand. Really?! Glad I didn't get that one too.

Come & Sit is pretty bad in most locations, but again a lot of it has to do with our attitude as well. For 2 years I went to Windsor Lock CT every Mon, Wed, and Fri with a standing 7 am appointment and after a little time and a box of Dunkin Donuts I could take my door by 6:30 and unload myself (my company didn't do lumper, private fleet it was our freight), and the receiver would check me in by 7:10 and I was out of there. Bethlehem was the same way, I used to go there every Sunday for 9am and was out by 10 at the latest, however Newburgh would have a 7pm appointment and I was lucky to be out of there by 2 or 3 in the morning.

As for the penalty C&S used to charge $150 for being 1-60 minutes late, $300 for 61-90 minutes late and refuse delivery after 91 minutes late, as for the no paperwork fine that is a new one to me. It wouldn't surprise me if they have that penalty and have raised their other fines as well, the owner didn't get to be one of the wealthiest men no one has every heard of by being nice. That being said, it is a shame they have the corporate culture and attitude towards drivers that they do because the company is owned entirely by one man, he has the power to fix it if he chose to do so.

There's one C &S in South Carolina I went to, can't remember the town. But it was unlike any C & S I've ever been to. Apparently they haven't gotten with the program yet.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the C&S warehouse off of 83 in York, PA. I spent 6 1/2 hours there on my most recent visit. This is the only customer my company delivers to that has a whole laundry list of procedures to do in order to collect detention pay. Here's a thought... Instead of taking your precious time unloading the trucks, maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the detention pay? They have the rudest people working the window too... Just a miserable place to be. Makes delivering to Kroger look like a Hawaiian vacation.
