Hey guys,
As drivers for a company what are you most important things that you value and why?
I know working with some companies before respect is one thing a lot of drivers have wanted and have heard stories of being treated like like youre dispensable. Second is paying on time. I know people who have worked with companies who will miss payroll then come up with excuses saying oh the bank closed by the time I got there and push pay out until like a week back regularly.
Most important thing you value as a company driver?

I like the nightlife. I always said I was a truck driver even when I was an Accountant. Nothing drives the wormins more crazy than a truck driving man. Accountant, not so much.

Equipment, pay, schedule and areas I'm running in. I've seen enough of the country. I'm cool with just staying in the southwest especially now that winter is upon us. So I definitely don't want to drive across the country in a slow governed, automatic Freightliner. I don't care what bonus is being offered or what the cents per mile rate is. You couldn't send me to the east coast in a 62mph Freightliner for 80cpm. The answer is NO! I like actually doing the speed limit and being able to easily identify my truck in the parking lot.

Miles, miles, more miles .... did I mention miles? Then freight, freight, more freight. You drive trucks to make steady money....nothing else. As long as I have a decent truck, and the company can keep me busy, I don't care about a thing else. I'll run anywhere, anytime, and any weather condition as long as it's safe so in my mind there ain't a reason for a company to not keep me busy.

I always valued having a decent ride and running as many miles as I could. I hated running 6 days a week but did so for 3 1/2 years. I feel so blessed, I’m now with my own company and now not running near as much but making way more.

From my limited experience, one year anniversary on Jan 15, 2022, I can say consistent miles and nice equipment are on the top of my list. Flexibility in being home when I need to be is also important. Having two younger kids at home and being OTR can make it difficult at times, but my company is pretty darn flexible and understanding in this aspect.
