Just about to finish my first week of CDL school at USTDS in Fountain CO. Learning a lot and getting ready to earn my class A CDL!

What is the the MOST money a rookie can earn his first year?

    What is the average?

    Any do's or dont's?

    Company recommendations?

Everyone at CRE makes $120,000 a year, regardless of if you even have a cdl

50k or more is definitely achievable your first full year. You have a fantastic resource here at TTR to help you make a solid choice starting out.

Chi Town Steers and Dreamboat Thank this.

I wouldn't focus on the money for ya first year, it'll be a disappointment. A SMALL percentage gross over $40, so I'd focus on learning how to drive safely.

I've worked with rookies that made as much as $65K their first year. They had all the endorsements and went right in to hazmat/tankers out of school.
Find the nearest Trimac Transportation terminal; walk in and ask for an application and an interview. Ignore what the website has about "experience required" because this company sometimes hires new CDL grads.
Food service pays real good; try Sygma Network.
Groendyke Transport - excellent reputation and sometimes hires new CDL grads.
One driver that posts often on here works for JBS Carriers and says he is on track to make $68K this year. That's big bucks for reefer drivers and you have to really hustle to make that.
    Decker Truck Line is reefers.
    Reddaway - LTL routes

I would go after Trimac, Groendyke, Sygma first, then check the others.

If you want to make as much money as possible starting out avoid the mega carriers most here will try to steer you towards at all costs.

No reason to start out at the bottom. Leave that for the less informed.
