I try to avoid that as well. I usually suggest construction companies or local contract haulers to the new folks.

MJ1657 and Chi Town Steers Thank this.

Some Trimac OTR drivers make over $100K per year. They hustle and have a very strong work ethic, plus qualify for the "Elite Fleet." Not all make that much, but it's there if you have what it takes.

What do you want to do with your trucking career? Dreams of otr or just want to drive a big truck or????

Mine was I just wanted to drive a big truck. I started out pulling a hopper then I went otr. Now I do mostly regional with a little otr and hopper mixed in.

I am definitely interested in going OTR and want to see some of the country, but I going to treat it as a career and I want to make the most of the opportunity at hand, as well as my time. What's hopper?

    MJ1657 Thanks this.

    Good attitude.

Hopper is hopper bottom. Hauling grain, fertilizer and various other commodities. My experience is in hauling grain from the farm to an elevator.

I do not own the truck I drive for a guy. It's just him and I and he has little to do with what I do.

I dispatch myself, the truck stays at my place, I do 90% of the maintenance, etc... It can be alot of work and long hours but its very rewarding.
