I applied to transfer and was conditionally approved so it looks like I’m moving soon. Heading to sunny and beautiful Las Vegas to swap this ice cold Illinois license for a shiny new hot Nevada. Big shout out to my buddy from this site, who I won’t name because he doesn’t know I’m posting this, but y’all know who it is. Went above and beyond helping me out on this one big time. Thanks again!

Transferring license, what do I need to know? I applied for my HazMat background and it was successful, I just haven’t taken the test yet. Should I do that before I move or does it matter. I payed like $100 or something for that background check.

I want to get all the endorsements at this point, but I don’t need them for this position. Hazmat should get me a minor pay bump.

Would it be better to get them all now, and transfer with them, or does it matter? I’m assuming this is a state specific thing, the Nevada website just confused me more.

The job is decent, should be a pay raise for me. Same company, position is called NDF and hauls everything they got that isn’t tanker. Comes with a decent weekly minimum.

After I get to a year (August) I’m thiniing I’ll try to get in with Gemini or similar.

Any other general advice about moving, Nevada, switching jobs, or heck anything you feel like slapping on the wall, will be appreciated.

    Thanks guys
    God Bless America

Wait and do all endorsements at once when you get to the new state.

Is it just the test that's needed? Do you get the hazmat license at that point? In your hands? I would do it. Texas will give you a temporary hazmat list if you have one to trade in. Then you get finger printed again. If your not grandfathered in some states require a hazmat class, so I have been told.

    MD-n14 and austinmike Thank this.

Do as much of the required paperwork, etc, as possible...once you get to Nevada -- & can prove residency there.

I believe I just need to take the endorsement test. I had my finger prints and back ground check completed, I got an email that it was good.

    77fib77 Thanks this.

Is it like 30 for new license and test? I would do it. Just to have.

Yeah it should be cheap for the test, I think 30 sounds about right. I’m definitely going to get it. Just a question of if I do it now or later, does it make a difference. Will the background check and fingerprints show up at the DMV in Nevada? I feel like the should, but it’s hard to find an actual answer on the dmv sites.
