Corpus Christi. Overall I like Texas just fine.
I'm looking at Viera, FL since @D.Tibbitt sparked my interest. Maybe in the future.

    From Chinatown's list:

#19 Lockhart: Nice Town BBQ capital of Texas, 6 of the top 10 BBQ joints in the state are here in this one small town, It is hot in the summer 40-60 days over 100 but that's why God gave Texas A/C, cold Beer and Ice Tea! Best of all you can live well on a Truckers wages.

Lots of people moving to Texas. Lots from california. Dallas / Ft. Worth has tons of trucking jobs. Traffic is a nightmare, but they have these things called loops which austin decided long ago they didnt need lol -
Summers are long and Hot. Lots of good looking women. Good Luck if you decide to move.

Me and Big Maude almost moved to Weatherford (I like that area a lot). It’s got small town feel, but is close enough to Fort Worth / Big D for all they have to offer. And, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra is GREAT! Frankly, if I didn’t know better, I’d think I’m part Texan!

But, we decided to move back Big Maude’s homeland (Arkansas).

p.s. This reminds me, I’ll be in Big D on the 28th (IIRC) for Elgar Symphony no. 1. (Wagner). :)

Freedom is not a strong suit in Texas, not sure where you heard that. It's very business oriented and very strict legally speaking.

I'm a native Texan. California may be strict in a liberal sense, but Texas is for sure way more strict in a conservative/police state sense. They don't screw around, and if one gets in trouble with the law, it is way way more painful than practically any other state. It's kind of like a mild western version of Singapore.

Edit: The exception being the metros when in the namesake cities like Dallas or Houston. As far as I'm aware they don't care about speeding and look the other way regarding a lot of vice. But don't get caught in the suburbs, they are serious about law enforcement.

Whatever you do don’t get sideways with the law in Williamson county.
