So i read a few posts just recently about driver shortage. It came too me as something im used too hearing and seeing. Before i started driving my neighbor always told me whatever i got. Came from a truck. Though he is true about it. Ive wondered if every driver took off in America including canadians. Lets say for a few days. It would have an effect on america's economy. Thats not really my point.
I understand there is a shortage however. If every driver decided too not go by a force dispatch or accept a load. Every driver would possibly get terminated.....yay or nay?
Drivers have families too feed but at the end of the day they can barely feed themselves and if they can barely feed themselves what about the person next too them?
Do megas realize that not only are they making money off company drivers and some owner ops or lease purchesers. But shouldnt they be reminded who brought in the can of jolly green giant corn at a kroger. Or maybe a 250 dollar suit at the nearest men shop. Heck who brought that specialty ordered BMW for you. And also hauled the highest premium gas for that vehicle. Or that flat screen 55" samsung that you got from Best buy.
All im saying is if every driver really did stop and not move the truck for a few days america stops LITERALLY!!. What would the powers that be do. How can they continue too push self driverless trucks without the material that drivers had too deliver too Detroit or down too the borders.
Would DOT be able too actually man a weigh station if no trucks are actually being ran on the roads. Would they spend more tax payers money for an inspector too twiddle his thumbs on the side of the highway.
Of course Trucks stops can proablly thrive on regular customers. But at the end of the day unless your not in Indiana. Diesel is always going too be higher then gasoline. So where does theyre revenue go to? The overpriced food goes stale....if they can even get it from their truck.
I know im ranting and i most likely am not making since. But i just really thought of it. After seeing all these and hearing about Driver Shortage. I just had too think is it really a shortage or is it something else? I dont know its just something i thought about.
Multiple Driver Shortage posts.

The truth that millions will always refuse to accept is that if WE stop driving millions WILL die!
WILL DIE.
Not joking.
Think about this. Trucking is more vital to our nation than hospitals and police departments.
America would clear the shelves in every grocery store within 48hrs. After that STARVATION. ESPECIALLY in major cities. Small towns can sustain for longer off the farm lands and cattle.
If they don't have that they can hunt.
What the #### can you hunt in Los Angeles ?? Hmm ?? Celebrities and Stray doggs ??
No fuel delivery = No travel for migration and refuge = Panic / Death
Including fuel for emergency services like fire trucks, ambulance and police.
Military would have stocks of Food and Fuel but only to protect the nations infrastructure.
Red Cross/UN/FEMA can only help a handfull. Look how long they took in New Orleans. Thats a huge major city!!!!
No Food delivery = STARVATION
America is already malnourished with all the processed foods we eat.
Your average inner city civilian would not survive without food and water for as long as expected. Frail and weak.
This is not a ####ing episode of Man vs Wild. People would die quickly from panic, chaos, lawlessness and STARVATION!
There may be a shortage of drivers but its only marginal and most likely won't effect the core resources we need to survive.
The above is hypothesised.
Every driver would never STOP unless something catastrophic cut our supply of fuel and that.wait?.........hmmmmmmm!!!

. oh ####?
Ok, let me go back.
Fuel delivery IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THIS COUNTRY!
Still, this is hypothetical. I don't expect (normalcy bias) something like this to happen. And if it did, mabey CDL drivers would be a top paying job in this country.
Until then, who gives a #### about driver shortage?
More loads for me to choose from.Last edited: Sep 12, 2015
Cw5110 Thanks this. -
landline now had a guy on the radio not too long ago. started driving in 1969.
according to him. the driver shortage has been going on at least that long.Studebaker Hawk and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
I put it simple:
Freight on loadboards does't pay AT LEAST like winter 13-14 in the Midwest (I operate mostly here).
Meaning no HOT loads to be moved.
Rest is self explaining... -
The same can be said about the dock workers and port workers who load the trucks. The IT specialists who keep the banking/financial systems up and running in a world where attempted attacks occur daily. The engineers who manage the pipeline and power grid networks. What's your point?
My point is anybody who is doing a job is doing a vital job. And be glad you're trucking because there are many more jobs that are much ####tier and that pay much less.
Yes, I understand that if the lawn care workers decide not to work for a month, it won't be the end of the world, but unless you want to do that work, too, then be glad for them as well. -
Nothing new.
