Nice, I’ve been stuck at 2,000-2,200 a week where I’m at
-
Schuster is a great company, my only complaint is having to drive an international. Once you drive a Peterbilt it’s hard to drive anything else.
Im a lot less fatigued at the end of the day because I’m not getting beat up from the road like an international or a freightlinerThrasher28 Thanks this. -
I agree for sure. Internationals are rough. I’m just holding out for one of their Kenworths at this point lol. You know it’s bad when a freightliner seems like a giant step up. The steering in Internationals is pretty horrific. Anything less than perfect alignment is terrible to drive. I’ve been fighting this truck to drive in a straight line since I got put in it. Even after an alignment, it’s still eating steer tires after 80k miles
I don’t really understand the 80% internationals, 20% fully loaded T680’s thing. Seems like it’d be easier to just have a fleet of Freightliners, but I’m sure they get pretty good deals from the Sioux City International dealer -
It looks like I see a lot more Schuster Kenworths going down the road these days. How do you get into a Kenworth at Schuster?
-
I don’t have much experience with freightliner except the one I’m in now and to be honest I prefer the international to the freightliner.
When I was at Schuster I had a single bunk too which I prefer to a double bunkThrasher28 Thanks this. -
Seniority from what I’ve heard. I assume keeping a clean truck, maintaining it, etc. probably factors in, but mostly seniority.
Seems to be the 1-2 year mark depending on availability, from the drivers I’ve overheard, so not too unreasonableLonesome, Suspect Zero and JForce28 Thank this. -
I think they drive decent. They just ride a bit rough and a little limited on space. I like the digital dash option on the new ones, if a company opts for it. I was in one at GP Transco and it was nice with the ‘sensor’ buttons on the wheel to control radio, etc.. Just swipe your thumb over it like a phone for controls
-
I don’t think you can have a pet in the Kenworth either? Not sure if that’s correct
-
Aside from the ride Freightliners are pretty decent trucks. Probably the cheapest to own and maintain. They're pretty reliable too. I think Detroit has the emissions stuff mostly figured out by now
A_C_Cooper, Friend and Thrasher28 Thank this.
