I don't like not getting resets. Whenever i run off of a recap there is always one or two days where i don't have very many hours to work. Maybe since we run team now that might not hurt us that much as far as downtime but when i ran solo i didn't care for it. As a team we do rolling restarts every weekend which seems to work out ok.

I'm liking your pay figures. What does the hours figure represent?

The hours = miles. I'm on a sliding scale so most is at .52 with the short loads at .60. I dont really mind running my clock out cause I run nights. On the days I only have 1 or 2 hours left, I get a short run that leaves at 3am but then I have a lot of hours for the next shift and start running longer runs again. The ups and downs is based on what loads I get. After I deliver this load I'm on I'll be at $1500/gross for the week and still have just enough time to run a short city run for $100 more before the pay cycle ends or a longer run and start the next cycle off good.

10-4. Well it looks like you're doing well. My wife and i run team an if my past years at our current company are a proper indication of what to expect then we should both make 60k a year at our current company. I think that we may be able to do better elsewhere.

At 2nd look i think that's real good money for the miles. Heck fire my wife and i just got paid for approx 5100 miles and i only cleared a grand after taxes and some of that money was from some detention time and some scale reimbursements. So i think you're doin quite a bit better at Crete than we are where we're at.

Had a quick drive down to Florence, KY again. This load was heading to Buffalo, well just outside of Buffalo to Cheektowaga, NY. Was a little concerned with all the Blizzard warnings I was hearing about from Cleveland to Buffalo . Long story short, It wasn't to bad. A lot of wind. More than what I've dealt with before and some random, heavy snow squalls. Decided to see if I could find parking at Jim's Truck Stop which was 1 mile down the road from the receiver. Surprisingly there were about 10-15 spots open.

Headed out this morning for a 7am delivery. Live unload took about 1 1/2 hours. Next stop was downtown Buffalo for a drop n hook headed to Palmyra, PA. Short one setting me up for my load home, or so I thought. I stopped for my 30 and asked for the pre-plan to be sent. After looking at it further it was a Sunday pick-up LOL Yeaaa not going to happen. Sad part is it was 1 hour east of my Palmyra delivery and was delivering Monday in Raymond, NH which is only 1 1/2 hours from my house....

Delivered my Palmyra load and spent the next 30 minutes with night dispatch trying to figure out how to get me home by Sat. early afternoon. Another long story short.... Drove over to the New Kingston terminal to shut down, shower and await the plan..

Finally got it. Palmyra pick up, T-calling it in Holland, MA and then headed home.. It's a refer load.. 1st one ever for me. We'll see how this goes.

Make certain the reefer has fuel. Do a rapid stop from a couple miles per hour and pop out to check the fuel gauge. The needle should be swaying if you look at the tank within 15 seconds or so of a quick stop.

I say this because reefer fuel guages do not always work.

If you prefer, a small light and some neck contortions can let you look into most reefer tanks, but you can only see fuel if it is nearly full.

Also when miles are short it makes up for it in stop pay. $15 a stop and 3/4 stops a load so even if its 200 miles can get back and run out with another 200 mile run for 6/8 stops rather than 400+ mile 3 stop. So higher mile pay with more stop pay but more work being done.
