Im creating this thread and will update everyday(if possible). I want this to be informative for current or prospective students following the same path as i am. I will do my best to update my experiences everyday and be as in detail as possible. I have arrived in Springfield and start C1 Training tomorrow. I am pretty excited about this new journey that i am taking on and looking to start what i hope to be a great new career. I encourage questions and comments.

Best of luck. I love to hear stories from those who are experiencing it first-hand!

Day 1- Not a great deal to mention. All the office personnel and instructors are really awesome so far. Everyone is friendly and fun. Most of the day was paperwork and preparing for the permit exam on Wednesday. My advice to future students is get the CDL manual and hit it hard before coming. It will help you from having to search for answers on the open book test on day 1.

This brings back memories... I went to the C1 in Indy, and drove for USA for two years. Ah, those were the days...
Good luck to you!
(And do me a favor: when you get to USA Truck's W.Memphis terminal, write down the wording of the sign at the bottom of the stairwell leading up to the dorm rooms... My sigline below was written from memory, which is fuzzy, and I want the name of the author! Thanks!)

Day 2- Long day today. 7am to 6pm in the classroom grading open book tests, then taking pretty much the same test over except closed book. On both tests we reviewed each question we missed. Made for a really long day. Tomorrow- taking the permit test. As stated before- hit your CDL manuals. Not just E-gears for you DS peeps.

Day 3. Permit exams day. Studied a little bit this morn. Went to the exam site. Took and passed all exams. General Knowledge, Combo, Air Brakes, HazMat, Doubles and Triples, and Tankers. D & T, and Tankers are optional tests. However the school says its a good idea to do it since they are free. You will take all the exams one right after the other. You cannot get your permit until you pass at least General Knowledge, Combo, and Air Brakes. Once i had my hard copy of my permit we headed back and went right into a truck and started straight line backing. Good day. So to all you prospective students- make sure you study Doubles and Triples, as well as Tankers. They may be optional but the test is free and it doesnt hurt to have the endorsement. Manual manual manual and E-gears.
