With verizon and my Crackberry I can connect to the internet on the phone and plug into my laptop as well. I get charged extra with this feature tho. So, having a separate connection is better for me. I think at least... I think I will be getting Sat radio too. May also get the TV too, since I have a Sat account at home too.

well looks like im posting my last post, after four days in training USA decided, with no explanation not to sponser my training and driver solutions couldn't get me another carrier. had a great time in the four days at little rock. met some great guys and some not so great but that goes with the territory. did learn there was a lot of miscommunication between DS and prospective students. i showed up and had everything in order and was admitted but a lot of people had issues probably cuz they didn't ask enough questions or something. overall i had a cool experience. it sucks that USA led me to believe i was going to get hired and had me go 4oo miles to school just to get kicked out so i have a problem with them but not DS or C1. If you do go just listen to everything the instructors say and ask questions about stuff. i did find it hard to get a couple of them to warm up to me, they kind of walk around like they are better than you at first but i walked around with a positive attitude , did all the homework they wanted and showed up on time everyday and found by my final day some of them were coming around. ready for my next step in life i guess

Been forever since ive been on the forums here. I am no longer with USA. I quit last June. Reason was illegal log book. It's not their problem it was mine. They put me in a position to drive illegally and I refused to do it. I left my truck at the shipper and caught a plane home. I am now getting ready to start with swift. Hope all is well with everyone and ill come online every so often and check in.

I'm sure there was more to it since you took a plane home, but I understand not wanting to write a novel... I still want to write my year review of the company but i've been slacking...
The simple solution to that problem stated kcmofire... is to send a message with your ETA, unplug the QC (so you don't hear beeps), turn off phone, take your 10 hour break, turn everything back on, read up on messages, deliver your load.
Depending on the company you were supposed to deliver to, they will work you in without an appointment. -
Ridinwithpride Thanks this.

Cant say that Im surprised kcmo. I had the same problem the whole time I was there. I could go on about the illegal crap they threatened to fire me over if I didn't do it, but there's no point...lol
Another solution I figured out worked for a little bit. Whenever they wanted to send me priority messages during my 10 hour, I would go down to line 4 of my log for 15 minutes. Perfectly legal, since anytime you're in the driver's seat not driving is line 4. That would reset my 10 and I'd go to bed laughing my ### off knowing how pissed my FM was gonna be
I would never choose swift as a replacement company. Same crap, different truck. I went to SNI after USA and it was great. Only reson I left was a local job opportunity that didnt pan out so now Im going to work for a small owner op. Good luck to ya. -
We will see what happens at orientation i guess. Having spoken with the recruiter when he pulled my DAC and seen the voluntary termination/ abandonement he had questions. I explained what was going on and my not knowing all the rules " cuz im green" and he said it would be fine. If they turn me away thats fine. Ill move on. The reason is the reason whether believed or not. I was new and did not understand all the laws and rules. Hell I still dont. I was out of hours by the time picking up a load in New Jersey. Called FM couldnt get through. Sent message and was told to deliver the load. Couldnt camp out overnight at the shipper cuz they locked up, didnt have any hours. Was afraid that if I drive and either A. Get pulled over "or" B. Get into an accident and hurt or kill someone - then im finished for life. I made the decision to pack up, call a cab and take me to the airport. My abandonement may be an issue. But at this point it isnt.

If you know that you are going to be in a pickle with your hours, you should have parked the truck before picking up the load. I dont care what anyone tells you, it is your CDL and your livelihood. Youre the captain of the ship. 99% of the time being stuck at a shipper out of hours is from poor planning. I learned this the hard way a few times. You don't have to drive 11 hours and 700 miles everyday either. Once you learn to not let people push you around and plan before you act, this job tends to get a whole hell of alot easier.
bigmikectn and Ridinwithpride Thank this. -
Yeah I hear yah. And im not afraid of saying something. I dont remember all the particulars of the situation since its been so long ago. I just remember accepting the load because i figured I had enough time to get there (which i did) get loaded, and then leave and find a parking spot. I think I had about 3 hours left, but it took sooo long to get loaded that by the time it was finished I was done on my 14. So my log book was sandwhiched between USA and the law.

I questioned my USA history with the recruiter. His response was that USA has already been verified since I applied and that I am good to go with no worries. Sounds like an honest answer. But ill leave this open to comment.
