Mine doesn’t swing unless I want it to. Is there a way to adjust the tension at the swivel points?

I'm not sure, I'll look later today when it's time to shut down. Ran put of hours getting loaded last night in Gaffney,Sc got a load from ace bakery going up to Belvidere,IL. I guess this would be one of Holland's short loads? Under 1k with DH. Hoping to get out to the PNW before I make it to the house in a few weeks.

They have plenty of short runs. Shortest one was a load less than 300 miles from Vegas to the LA area. I got that run 3 times in a year and a half. The main reason I left because they were constantly giving me loads under 1000 miles. Obviously I wasn’t on their favorite list for whatever reason.

That Gaffney to Belvidere is a tad short for a Holland load, but not by much. It was probably a broker load, the Carolinas are a weak freight area for Holland. Gotta take what you can get out of there.

They will give you a sub 400 mile load every once in a blue moon. They’ll usually do this either to get you home, or to get you to a stronger freight area. I did a broker load once going from Massachusetts to Elkton, MD to get me home to NJ. I also did a broker load from Greensboro, NC up to PA once, then I was rewarded with a nice long load from Leesport to Idaho. Take the good with the bad I suppose.

Sometimes there is plenty of freight but a company won’t haul it for what it’s paying. I know companies that won’t haul anything under 3 or 4 dollars a mile. I understand the whole “Say no to cheap freight” narrative, but I have to wonder if its entirely a good idea to sit trucks while waiting for better paying freight that may or may not show up. Realistically how long can a company be idealistic?

You can drive one of those beautiful blue Petes with 3 years of verifiable experience.... and get paid $0.36 a mile. :biggrin_25513::biggrin_25513:

At Holland, broker loads are very rare. I have NEVER sat more than about 22 hours between unload and reload in 3 years I’ve been here, and I can think of only several occasions this happened, even if trying to get home.

Sitting is not something you’ll do at Holland unless you miss appointments or try and deviate off of their normal internal dispatch system.

I've been running so-so and steady, not accruing any real 70 hours [and keeping about 3-8 of the 70 hrs in reserve at the end of day for the past week or so]. Unload Fort Worth at 09:00 Wednesday then a 13:00 pickup in Garland for Wooster.

Not looking forward to the trip out of DFW on I-30 Wednesday afternoon, maybe it won't be too bad, but I'd like to knock out at least 300 miles Wednesday to put me within 300 for Friday noon appt.

I'm thinking about where I'm going to take my reimbursed Thanksgiving meal in the next few days, and I'm not excited about any of the better options that come to mind between Dallas and Wooster. Maybe the North Forty might not in but I'm not as impressed with the food there as most seem to be.
