Yikes, 2000 appointment in Bartow, FL. Have fun finding parking after that pickup. You're reminding me one of the things I didn't like about reefer. "Hey go pick up this load at 8pm in a place where there's no parking nearby and you're going to have little to no hours left" seems so common. I would still do reefer because I like it in general but that's something that always bothered me.

I am aware that most will say that this CPM is too low, however, I easily get 3250 miles a week running on recaps with bumping docks only twice a week.
Now, could I go somewhere else with my experience and make more? Possibly. However, trucking IMO is all about what works for each driver and what lanes they prefer to run and how far they’re willing to run, and often they want to be home.
For the type of driving I enjoy doing, Holland works for me. They’ve always been MORE than fair and the lanes we run I enjoy. Myself, I don’t care to run the sun belt. It’s too hot. Especially when you get down on I-10 this time of year.
Taking a coast-coast run across the 10 is brain damage with all the RV’s, boats and other vacationers.
I enjoy running the lanes such as I-80 and above. Yeah, winter time can be a challenge, however, I’ve never thrown iron and we’re not forced to do so.
Another thing about Holland that has been mentioned is that they don’t haul ANY produce or Any meat. Therefore, for a reefer carrier I never experienced these nightmare detentions sitting a meat plants or other shippers. That being said I’ve only had about 3 box’s of product rejected my entire time here thus far.
I’ve also mentioned that since I’ve been with Holland I think I’ve gotten only 5 trailer washouts.
Moreover, I’ve never experienced a mechanical breakdown. The only thing I’ve experienced is a trailer blow out. Holland is strict up their uptime on all their equipment. A cliche, sure, but no one makes any money with continuous maintenance issues and breakdowns.
lastly, and most importantly, Holland doesn’t MICROMANAGE. I NEVER hear a word from them. As long as you pick up and deliver on time and communicate any on time service delays, you run how you want and where you want to fuel ( only Loves, however). There also isn’t any fleet messages, day-in and day-out reminding drivers to do common sense things or for what an experienced professional driver should already know.Northern Nomad, Rugerfan, smokey12 and 5 others Thank this. -
