After a few months of trying to get into a CDL school, and jumping through all the hoops, I began my training at Roadmaster Driving School on 2/4/2013. I am disappointed in many things so far. I've been lied to and mislead by the school (I signed up through a recruiter at the corporate office). It turns out the equipment is terrible, you receive hardly any seat time over the three week training period, and many of the companies that hire through them have a terrible track record from what I read. (A little late LOL).But, that being said The instructors are GREAT! The people at the Tulsa, Ok location really want you to succeed and they give their all to try to get you through your CDL test. Today I failed my test. Wigged out on my alley dock and pointed out. But, I am retesting Thursday and I believe I am ready if I can just keep my heart in my chest. I see a good future in driving for me as I enjoy working mainly by myself, and the joys of swinging an 18 wheeler around
. Now I am just wondering what's next! Looking for smaller companies to work for.. Thank for reading my experience so far and any input is very welcome!

All the best to you brother !

good luck, keep us updated.... will you get a chance to practice between now and your next attempt?
-
Good luck I'm going to be nervous too. I go for permit tomorrow. If I pass them I will be relieved

try not to swing the 18 wheeler to much

Don't worry about seat time. Any company that hires you is going to put you through their training before turning you loose. You'll get plenty of seat time. Just focus on passing your test. Good luck.

One trick I figured out on my very last practice alley dock (nailed it with no pull-ups) was to keep the truck rolling at all times. Unlike the parallel and offsets where it was best to stop and adjust, I found it much easier and smoother to keep slowly rolling while making adjustments on the alley dock.kerosene jockey Thanks this. -
Another helpful trick with alley dock is to remember one rule..Right brings you closer, Left takes you away. If you see your trailer tracking off you dont need to much of a turn on the wheel to bring it back.
