I know why they’re doing escrow, they’re doing that to get money on their books for you, incase you leave and break something, tear hood off something, and quit, tbry get some money back.
I’d look elsewhere.
My first job offer is a 1099. Here are the details. Any feedback is appreciated.

.63 per mile is that bad.? Roehl and Western Express pay .43 per mile. Roehl actually said I have to do 25 days training at 110$ per day.
-
its .63/ mile @3k miles $1,890 good yes?
now you have to pay your federal state, Ss medicare and keep up with everything
Plus they’ll fire you for can’t g and keep your 2250 escrowgentleroger Thanks this. -
.63 cpm isn't much after the state and federal taxes are taken out. The IRS wants their cut and will sue you to get it if you don't voluntarily give it to them.
As @Judge posted, you also have to withhold Social Security.gentleroger, TD3 and Opus Thank this. -
Plus you'll probably need to hire a CPA to figure it all out.
Get a company position until you understand the industry.
There's 100s of guys on here with 1000s of years of experience that wouldn't touch a 1099 with a 10 foot pole.
Do not do this.Sons Hero, 88 Alpha, gentleroger and 4 others Thank this. -
I messaged him. This was his response.
Escrow is very common for company drivers in the industry as well. It’s $150 for 15 weeks. You’re fully eligible to receive it all back and most do. The main reason we have it is to ensure that you bring the truck back here if you were to ever leave. The occupational insure is $53 a week. Those are the only 2 deductions -
Chicago, lol.
Please post the company name or DOT number..
Since you already made up your mind, don’t expect any sympathy when you don’t get paid..for weeks on end.
Guessing they are running spot market freight (you probably didn’t know to ask) so getting $0.63 per mile makes me giggle.. You’ll never see that just excuses why you haven’t been paid.
Good luck!Siinman, thatsright, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this. -
What type of trailer? flat, dry van, refer?
What are the stop and other accessory pays.
If it is all drop and hook why are they even mentioning detention. Makes me wonder how well they run their business.
I am reading that as Drop and hook in Chicago area. If you D&H in Chi are deliveries on the west coast D&H or Live/Multi stop?
Once on the west coast is it D&H back or Live/Multi Pick?
I do not see their mileage average as valid. Unless you are doing resets on the road. Or micro managing the clock on multi-pick loads back from the west coast.TD3 Thanks this. -
@Judge
I hear what you’re saying and I appreciate you giving me feedback.
If I’m vigilant and take out taxes weekly @.33% is 623 + after escrow & oc I would clear about 1g. And he’s saying escrow I get back. It’s not a long term plan but for 6months to a year to get some experience I am strongly considering it.
Most student driver training programs pay 400 for 1 week orientation and then I have to do like 30 days with a trainer @ 110$ per day.
which I’m open to. Don’t get me wrong but these people want me to start Monday and my current situation, I have nothing to lose. -
If that's the only job you can get, then go for it.born&raisedintheusa and TD3 Thank this.
