My Funny For the Day

This happened a week or so ago. I’m sitting in line at the gate to this fly ash outfit close to my house and a OTR rig pulling a dry van pulls up behind me. I thought it kind of odd, but figured he might be delivering furniture or some other one off deal.

A few minutes passes and he comes up to my truck and asks “what time do they open? I have a 0700 appt”.

I said “0700 but she (the guard) never gets there before 0715 and sometimes as late as 0745”. Then I asked “Who are you delivering to (I know everyone there)?”. He names the power plant next door.

I tell him he’s in the wrong place and told him to look behind him at the gate on the next road over. He says (not kidding here) “Oh no, that can’t be it. That’s Hwy ABC. It shows that on my GPS.

So I say “Well, I live here and know every blade of grass and tree bark like the back of my hand. That’s where you need to be; sitting down there at that gate, checking in with them because that’s the power company”.

He leaves and comes back a few minutes later to explain what went wrong with his navigation that put him the wrong road and then asked “Will they let me turn around in here”? Being the softy I am I said “Yes”.

I should’ve told him no one comes in or out without going to the scale house to get weighed. Lol
