This same move has been on my mind as well. The money at FCC was very consistent and having a low cost of operation is good. When rates are in the toilet like they are now a percentage pay plan isn't the best option. When rates are sky high a mileage plan isn't very good. With that being said, FCC's mileage plan is better than most. $1.98 a mile at FCC is about like running for $2.50 a mile (to the truck) at LS.

It always amazes me to see how people respond to choices individuals make in their own lives.

You made the choice you felt is best in your life and someone else will be all up in arms about your decision.

Times are totally different than they were a year ago, much less 2 years ago.

I wish you the best and hope to see more of your adventures!

I did a very similar thing. I was leased to FCC and I left because a buddy of mine with his own authority offered to buy another trailer so I could lease on with him running the spot market for 80%. Money was fantastic at first, but then as we all know the market went to ####. I was very close to going straight back to FCC myself for the consistent freight and really low cost of running the truck. The only reason I didn't go back to FCC was I found a very similar outfit that pays more. Similar as in they have a good customer base and run round trip loads. Only catch is it's reefer, but I've never had a problem pulling a reefer and they pay for the reefer fuel. Anyway, my point is, yeah the rate per mile sounds bad, but you're right. The numbers add up when your expenses are next to nothing.
