Thank You so much for this post. I just got the go ahead from Mercer this week to get me truck. there are a lot of things you posted that I didn't think about, you have already saved me a lot of time and money.
    thanks again for the post.

Things I learned, get my twic card before I go, have a metered dot done on my truck before I go.
I'm buying my truck and trailer outside mercer, so I hope to have it all weigh inspected and equiped before I goto orientation.

I know people will ask this, Why buy my truck and trailer outside of mercer. I don't want to owe money to people who have atlease some control over my income.

Mercer don't care where you get the truck from they still operate the same in which they don't control your income at all. It's in you

Has anyone done a lease thru Quality truck lease? I'd like some feedback on them.

Oh no! I hate to hear that! My husband had his first one only days after purchasing his 07 Pete 379 very first wreck in 17 years and first time ever in a semi! Hope you don't have any problems getting it fixed! His was in the shop for 3 weeks! Put us behind on everything and that was in July! We're still feeling that!! Good luck!

Go look at the lease/purchase section on this website. Find the thread that says "quality leasing". I did a write up on there as well as a few others.

I have a dash cam and for some reason never hooked it up in this truck. It's been sitting in the passenger seat since may.

Now I'll make sure that's the first thing I hook up before I drive the new truck off the lot ;)

You in the shop or waiting for some downtime?

Got to the TA in Seymour Indiana. The steer tire was chewed up pretty good so I got them to put 2 new steers on and check the alignment. The toe was good but it knocked the camber out of it. It was -1.1 which is pretty significant. So it's going to need a new king pin on the right side along with a bumper end and side fairing/step. I told them to put the steers on So i could get a load. Picked up a load in wilder KY that were crane stools with a drop in Atlanta tomorrow and pompano beach FL monday. So I'm at the house now. I'll go deliver in Atlanta about an hour from me in the morning then come back home. After I deliver Monday I'm going to find a load coming back towards the house by wednesday. Police report and insurance should be worked out by then so I'll go drop the truck off at freightliner in bham and get them to do an estimate/fix it.

Not sure how insurance will handle it but they're either going to pay for me a rental or pay me to sit at the house until it's fixed. I'm not going to sit at home for a week or 2 when it wasn't my fault.

I haven't had to deal with insurance yet here. But I've read good things about them.

Insurance isn't paying for a rental. They may pay a small amount for down time but I wouldn't expect much. Civil litigation is your only option, and chances are the guy doesn't have any money. Basically, welcome to being a business owner.
