I have the MCP 200 and just got off of Hometime and the screen is black and it will not boot up. I called Omnitracs and they tried to do a remote reboot and said they couldn’t because the unit itself is not taking orders. They told me to remove the power for an hour and plug it back in but that did not fix it so we are driving on paper logs and headed to Thermo King to get it looked at tomorrow. I had a problem a couple years ago at the Jubitz truckstop and they fixed it for free but it’s possible the company I was leased to at the time paid the bill without me knowing. That was before I changed companies and bought the unit from my former company. My question is does Omnitracs pick up the tab if one of their units fails or my going to get soaked tomorrow?

Check the actual black box where all the power comes from , it should have blinking lights to show thats its running.

It does have blinking lights but they are blinking red and only change color when it attempts to boot up. It fails right away and goes back to blinking red.

Midnight here is your answer ...
Does Cobra pick up the tab if one of their CB's fail that you bought used from someone else?

Yes it will most likely cost you but that's part of doing business.

Do you pay for unit insurance on the device? If not, expect a bill.

Have you tried the hard reset button? It is a tiny indention somewhere on the device where you can push it with the tip of a ball point pen or a paperclip end.

I forget how long the warranty is. They have been good about honoring warranty on my units as long as it’s not driver induced. What happens is they keep yours and send a refurbished unit.

Out of curiosity, what does those units run. I have heard varying amounts here when they first had to get them, but some of them was some sort of phone deal too.

take the tube shape battery out from the little black box. reinstall it and put the 2 screws back on. then turn key on the ac mode. let it power up
