I am a rookie (OTR) been driving for about 3 months and tbh I don't know how much longer I can go, it's so depressing for me being out from home a week or 2 , I always get depressed on the road .. I don't even know how I've lasted this 3 months .. my goal was to last a year so I could get hired locally but I don't think I'm going to b able to do it ... I might just quit and try another career maybe a trade (plumbing , electrician) something .. still 24 yrs young so well see , but with that said I respect all of you drivers who have been doing this for years and years !! But I don't think I can .. that's why you guys rock for doing this for so long !

Why wait a year for a local job?

Try to hang in there, man. 9 more months will pass before ya know it. Take it from a 55 year old who wishes they had stuck it out on NUMEROUS endeavors and regrets every one of them. Don't be me.

Team up or get your gf/bf/spouse to ride with you, that will decrease the stress. If you don't like being around people, then get a chihuahua

    G13Tomcat, Jbeltran805 and 201 Thank this.

Stick it out and press on. It will pay out in the end. Mean while continue to apply everywhere you can locally. Worst they can do is say NO.

Steer the course, laddie, you're doin' great ( I wish someone would have told me that) Lonely, with all the gizmos today? Heck, all we had was a CB radio,( and many of those were iffy, at best) our houses could have burned down, and there we were waiting in line at some God forsaken place. If you go anywhere else, it's going to be the same crap, different shovel. Not sure what you expected, this is it. We've all had good stretches and bad, bottom line, I didn't want to do anything else, and Lord knows, I tried. It will get better, and if not, like I say, this is trucking. Oh, and another thing, be glad you have a site like this at your disposal. All we had were a bunch of idiots bsing at the coffee shop. I'd have loved a site like this back then. You'll be fine, now get back to work!!!;)
