I went to Millis Transfer in July 2006 and went through the the MTI in Trenton. I was out with my trainer for about a month when I decided to come home for personal family reasons. I've since gone and got a new DOT physical and renewed my CDL A permit with proper endorsements.

I never got my cdl before I was working off a permit since I was with the trainer. I am well prepared now to complete the pre-trip, basic control, and driving test to get my actual cdl.

My question is this, since I will have a CDL A now but have not been to school for 3 years am I going to have a problem getting a job that accepts "graduates"? I understand that I would need to go out with a trainer again b/c only having 1 month exp. I am just really wanting to get back into trucking and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, You have 1 month of experience 3 years ago and don't have you CDL? No, your not going to find a job. You are going to need to be retrained with a school to get your CDL- Or go to a company that offers CDL training, Unless I am reading it wrong you went to school then got a job on a permet? Did you not get your cdl in school?

No I didn't get a CDL at school. The school was through the company. They have you go out with the trainer for 4-6 weeks then test to get your CDL. Never really asked what happens if you don't pass your CDL test. I'm going to test for my CDL now. [I had a permit went to school, went with trainer, never got cdl---now want to get back into trucking, got permit, testing for actual cdl now, once obtaining cdl...needing to know if company that takes students would accept me]

    and if not...

I'm just trying to weigh out my options to see if it's really worth paying upwards of $6k to go back through school and then hopefully get a job at a carrier that accepts students.
