Yeah - that was our argument.

We’d run with headphones over one ear, as to still hear truck and traffic noise while the other slept.

    Great pay - minimal comfort.

The first truck we had didn’t have jake brakes.

Little by little older units are leaving, hopefully I get to have a truck with a radio as the new units come in.

We focused on the $185-200k team gross wages, and made the rest work, while we were there.

Can you imagine how much better I feel rolling down the road in this . . .

for 6-7 months of the year . . . at whatever speed I like - with the house and 4 rentals paid for and Gretchen retired?

Don’t get me wrong - great company, great pay - but we paid our dues with that crowd, and though we didn’t realize it at the time - it was hard work.

No radios, speakers, jake brakes, inverters, microwaves, fridges, play stations, port a potty, . . . just hook a set - drop them, rinse and repeat.

I don’t recommend them to folks anymore, because most are looking for creature comforts, pet and passenger policies, and ‘will they hire me with ‘x’ on my record ‘ requests.

    Lol!

One year we thought they were treating us when we got a truck with not only an electric window on the passenger side . . .

But! A button on the DRIVER side too!!

Turns out that became the minimum Freightliner spec that year - no more crank handles.

We turned about 1.8 million miles as a team with them. Still have the company uniforms to prove it (though they never seem to die, regardless of how many shop and garden sessions I put them through)
