Long as you can prove your an employee, then you’re not a rider.
But still some places only allow the driver in, you’ll have ti stay at guard shack.

tscottme and Bean Jr. Thank this.

The CDL is the least of the issues, I said can not must.

That said, you will have to log HOS, you will have to have a medical and also treat the driver as an employee with a drivers' file or jacket. This includes an application and entry into drug program, so on ...

The other issue is insurance, you will have to pay that and maintain it. This is not cheap.
You have your lawyer create one for you.
Well yes and no, you have to justify their being in the truck, your wife isn't a justification, but an employee is.
SHIPPERS DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.
Yes they will question it if you are showing up in a rental.
You and your wife need to be employees, this is the only reason why you need an LLC, an LLC will not protect your assets, that's salemen BS.

So I asked these questions -

What do you think you are going to haul?

What rates have you already established with customers?

What source of work do you have aligned?

Bean Jr. and tscottme Thank this.

I’m going to be hauling just general freight I am booking loads off of load boards they have their prices for loads but I’m pretty sure I can call and negotiate dollar per mile rates depending on what my dead head is for the pick up
