I’ve been trying to obtain my CDL For about three months now I’ve applied to several companies only to be denied employment. I’ve never given a reason why? anyways given the answer they went with another candidate. I have attached photos of my background. In 2008 I received a DWI and then a couple of years later I received An instruction of a highway charge which was a DWI I fought and won, Thus obstruction charge. Or is it the accident that I had almost 3 years ago that’s holding me back? I’ve called the DPS and all they say is I have a valid license there is no reason why I shouldn’t be able to get a CDL. Is my past holding me back am I unable to obtain a CDL with my background I would appreciate honest advice, please.

Which companies did you apply with?
Are you still living in Galveston?

companies often won't give a reason. If they give a reason it's likely to START a long conversation or minor dispute with the applicant. When you go to grocery store you don't want to explain to ANYONE why you picked this product and not that product. You want what you want. An accident less than 3 years ago is probably the immediate reason. I think you are doing the right thing by looking for an employer before you go to CDL school. Some disreputable CDL schools will admit convicted murderers living on death row as students because they want your money, or money from the trucking company that may hire you. There is no reason to owe money for a CDL if almost nobody can hire you. I'm thinking once your accident is beyond 3 years you will have better luck. You have got to keep your driving record clean from now on, not one ticket for anything or your career will never get better. Some new drivers, who hang out with the wrong type of people, think tickets, accidents, violations, missing appointments are just things that happen and shouldn't be a big deal. Almost all of those increase insurance costs for trucking companies.

Don’t say anything about the DUI, it was over 10 years ago, answer specific questions like, “Have you had one in last5-6 years.” No.
    Nothing more, nothing less.
Accident last 3 years, fender bender in personal vehicle,

most companies allow 2 small ones in 3 years.
And put non-dot recordable accident or some such.

Did you submit an application or just use a phone call?
Be careful answering questions on job applications and don't reveal information outside the framework of the question.
For example: "Have you had a DUI within the last 5 years?" The answer is "no" because your DWI was 14 years ago.
