Money is in the bank for when it goes. My luck, I'll be under a load when it does. Tow bill plus repair already covered. I just cant justify doing it now when I could potentially get 1 - 3 more years out of it.

A couple other thoughts.
One is if you are worried about putting a rod through the side, watch the OA results closely and ask the lab what the number mean.
Second is why don't you get an oil trap and put it on, recover the oil from the breather tube so it doesn't leak, and then you can measure your losses instead of guessing.
Pittsburgh power has a "universal" one, give them a call an get one.

Doesn't Cummins have a breather filter in the valve cover? With the miles you have on it, if it hasn't been changed then I would replace that 1st. As far as the shifter, I had a 10 speed with a very sloppy stick. Turns out the nylon bushing where the stick meets the shifter forks was shot. The mechanic took an hour or two to remove the boot and top plate off the transmission and replace the bushing. Then it shifted like a new transmission.

I put them on all the trucks when I first get them, I had 7 of them made with baffles for less than $100 each, had the dealer plumb them up and every OA sample, the oil is drained and put back into the engine. Really simple, can't see how PP can charge so much.localyokal Thanks this. -
