Can anyone get me the engine family of my 99 Detroit Series 60? I have the engine serial number available. The valve cover was replaced before I purchased the truck, therefore no labels.

Last 6 of your vin I can get your engine model number. Assuming the engine hasn't been replaced.
fortycalglock Thanks this. -
99 should be dd4

http://www3.epa.gov/otaq/certdata.htm
There is zip-files with excel for different modelyears you can download
Probably something like this: XDDXH12.7EGL (example for MY1999 12.7) -
If it's a 99 it will be a ddec4 with out egr .
You got three model codes it could be
Mk60
Tk60
Pk60
Phone your dealer with last 6 digits of your Vin and request the model # of your engine. Not hard assuming that's the original engine as previously stated. -
Clean off the side of the block. Center section, driver side right below the head is a raised block that should have the ESN and model.

If it's for the CARB exemption - I had the same trouble with the N14, so I called CARB, they said "Doesn't matter" and poked the application through regardless.
