Hey everyone, Im new to the forum and industry although i have my class A cdl since i was 19 now 26. I Operated a dumptruck for a year and decided i didn't like it and went and tried other things. Now im back looking for a driving job. after doing a lot of research this past week iv narrowed down my search into potential trucking jobs id like.
my criteria- Home daily/ family life. , 8-10hr days, multiple stops being able to physically move around.
OTR- def. not for me, have a wife and baby due this month.
Looked into Linehaul- Feel like that's way to much straight driving for me. I hate sitting more then 2-3hr straight driving.
p&d- I like how they get to make stops and move around but not all the cons that come with it. specially being a new driver.
That brings me to Tanker: Ive looked into Propane and fuel wagon delivery. I like the fact they drive smaller trucks and do pretty easy delivery's without having to unload pallets and your not stuck driving for hours straight. Propane starts around 18-20hr in Oregon not sure what fuel starts if someone can answer that ?.
Looking for some input on any more potential truck driving jobs that fit my criteria that i might not have thought of. I wouldn't mind driving a tanker tractor/trailer but wasn't sure if they had jobs that do deliveries and are not linehaul. and info/ advice much appreciated .
thanks

What about UPS, or FedEx? You'll get a workout with them.
You'll need to do some of the legwork yourself. Look around, see how things are getting delivered, talk to the drivers if possible.
Who's hiring in your area?
Open the phonebook, what trucking companies are near you? Talk to them. -
If you can deal with the postal attitude, there are likely contract carriers up there, pays 20-30 hr, no OT (pays less after 40), but reg schedule. Indeed often has listings.
Dry bulk like cement, fly ash, etc.

Ill look into dry bulk thank you. -
The USPS mail contract runs, I'd stay away from. USPS. Phoenix is going to start testing a couple of autonomous trucks running from here to Dallas. These hub to hub runs are going to be the first things the autonomous trucks start taking over

Look into jet fuel if you have a reasonably busy airport in your town. Or if there is an airport within 250 miles and you live close to the loading racks (tank farm).
