I think if you're trying to have a 4 day work 3 day off schedule then yeah food service or similar. I'm too old for that and I'm 52. I hear what you mean about a 34 being useless and I agree. I don't go home unless I have time to get my stuff done and then get nothing done for a day or 2. I wouldn't work 4 12hr days because I'd never get to the getting stuff done part after recovering from the work week.
If you work by the mile or by the load you're still not getting paid on the 3 days off. If I was home 3/7 of the time I'd make probably 35-50k$

Yeah, I guess I’m kinda looking for almost part-time. I just think the 35 hr reset is ridiculous, it just isn’t enough time anymore. Maybe I’m facing burnout. If I’m out 10 days and start doing re-caps I just want to be home.

Where are you based? The company I run for does runs from the Rockies to the Midwest and back. Typical run averages about 3700 miles in 5 to 8 days, then you decide when you go out again... Want 34 hrs? Fine... Want 4 days? Fine. A short run is around 3300 miles and a long run can be as much as 4300 miles. 99% of the time you never even touch the freight. In 4 years ive only gotten into running recaps twice, and both of those were on my last day before getting home.

But to get north of $70k you're not going to be taking 3 and 4 days at home between every run. You will need to be boogying to get that kind of cash. You might be able to clear $60k with 3 days between runs. And the company likes to see thier drivers averageing 10k+ miles a month.

I make mid 70s working 5 days a week at JB Hunt. That's with most nights spent at home and the same start time every day. I don't know what would be out there with just a 4 day week.

My company does 34 resets every week. It gets old because they want us to work 14 hours a day. They also have a 5 day a week fleet. They also have 4 days on 4 days off fleet. The less you work, less money you make.

WalMart might to 2 days off a week and pay good but lots of crazy rules and slip seating sleeper trucks. Guy on YouTube went to Walmart said he would retired from them. Year or 2 later he quits to lease his own truck. He was making $100,000+ at Walmart. Talked about 30 minutes for him to switch trucks. If truck needs repairs they just tell you go get into another truck.

Why don't you just run recaps? When I was company I hardly ever drove over 7 hours in a day. I could sit in a dock for 6 hours and still knock out my drive-time. Detention just became a bonus to me. I always saw 2,800 or more miles in a week and that was at 62mph. Meanwhile other drivers were driving down to a minute left each day making up illegal parking spots just so they could make $80 more than me and waste a day watching urine evaporate off the parking lot in a truck stop taking a reset. I never stressed about anything, most days were done well within 10 hours yet alone 14, my hours were much more flexible to accommodate for appointment times, etc.

34 hours home isn't acceptable . I think people are confusing that you want to only drive 4 days a week and then sit at a truck stop .
