I got offered a new regional job and I was going to take it but I'm not sure if they will still take me cuz I got into a wreck 2 days ago. No damage to my truck little damage to the other truck. No police were called no citations. My fault. Should I call the company up and tell em what happened? Or go to orientation and keep my mouth shut?
Need some advice

@Chinatown @Moosetek13 @inkeper these guys could maybe tell you, I would think if no cops called then no record of it but Im still newer at this so don't go by what I say.

It might not be reportable to DOT, but you still need to report it...
Be honest, if not they will just fire you during orientation when they pull your reports.rabbiporkchop and 27butterfly Thank this. -
If it your personal truck, keep your yap shut.
If it is bosse's truck and he aint sqawking then you keep yap shut.
If it does not involve Police, Citations, Tow, 911, Tow wreckers and ambulances etc etc etc. Keep your yap shut.
If no one sued you for the oopsie, keep yap shut.
You know it happened. Big deal. A bit of property damage easily taken care of with some parts or a new fendeer paid for in cash.QuietStorm, miss elvee, bottomdumpin and 1 other person Thank this. -
Will it be on a DAC report? Does the company you're currently with use DAC?
27butterfly Thanks this. -
I am with x1 Heavy on this. If you did not receive a citation and no one reported to insurance, then no one will find out about it. They will if you open your mouth about it.
QuietStorm Thanks this. -
If it's possible that it will appear on your DAC, report it to your potential employer. But, if you know for a fact it won't, keep it to yourself.
Better to have the offer taken off the table, than to be fired after leaving your current job. Keep in mind, it may not appear for a while. Some companies will let their desk pile up and then do their reporting all at one time once a month or so. Not sure that is legal or not. Not even sure there are laws governing it or not. But it happens. -
Put yourself in your bosses' shoes (the one that will pay the insurance claim on the damage you caused with your preventable incident), and think about your situation again.

I would call and tell them what happened personally. If they didn't want to hire you for the accident at least you still have the job your at. You have leverage while you have a job when your looking for another..worst thing that could happen if you don't call and be honest is you quit and go to new carrier they find out and most companies won't call your present employer until you're at orientation they find out and let you go.now no job bad time of year to be looking for a job because a lot of carriers don't hire much between January to march you have no more leverage you might have to take a worse job than you have.

Thx to everyone. My current company is self Insured, not sure how that works. I was planning on telling them as I don't know if my boss is going to report it or not. It was so rcent I don't think it would show up anyway but would hate to get blind sided in a few months if it does end up showing up. I'll let you know how it goes.
