Against my better judgement I got a PM service done at Petro. Usually will go anywhere except T/A or Petro.
Anyway.. next day I stop for the night, 10 mi from my delivery the next morning. Next morning comes and my truck starts.. then shuts off. Would not restart.
My fuel bowl in the seperator was empty.. fuel filter was empty. Tried to reprime pump and filter... nodda. Too much air and no way to siphan fuel out of the tank to fill filters. Had to call for road service.
Mechanic found the problem said lid on fuel bowl was not tightened enough.. gasket for filter came loose. Allowed fuel to drain and suck air on startup. Said wrong fuel filter was used. Fleetguard FS1212 on C15??? Mechanic replaced it with a Baldwin filter.
Anyway.. road service cost me $300. Paid Petro $275 for their PM service in which their guy was not competant enough to tighten the bowl enough.
What course of action do I have? Suck it up and never use Petro/TA ever again.. or should I call and risk losing my temper asking for them to refunde for the PM service?
What would you do?

Nothing wrong with running the FS1212 on there, that's one I always used in the winter, has a little better flow than the 1R-0749.
I would call and ask to speak to the manager, see if you can get him to reimburse you for the service call. -
I have heard that if you call T/A main office with the details they will try and make it right (reimburse, free PMs etc). Not sure you would want another PM from them tho.
double yellow and Hurst Thank this. -
^^^ what Oscar said.
Hurst, truckon, Oscar the KW and 1 other person Thank this. -
def, need to get some sort of credit. Any decent human being would offer you something.
Hurst Thanks this. -
1. Definitely do not let it just go. Nothing to loose by pursuing it.
2. I would start in person, at the station where it happened, doesn't matter it it's 3 weeks before you go by there again. It's way too easy to get blown off or hung up on by phone. (The exception could be as mentioned above, if head office has a reputation of being decent).
3. Have documents with you for both situations, solid proof.
4. Be firm and business like, yelling won't get you anything, except maybe a bit of steam release for yourself.
5. Lastly, in my mind it's not so much the $300 as the result of poor service, it's being stranded and unable to go. To me that's the biggie. A truck is useless if it can't run and deliver that load, right?Hurst Thanks this. -
Hurst, truckon and Cottonmouth85 Thank this.

I agree. Try CALMLY to get a reimbursement for the road service from the Corporate office. Forget going back to where you got that um, service done.
Hurst Thanks this. -
I wonder if the mechanic will pay for it
