First, after only 5 months, you've managed to bend up a Big truck three times, which you don't consider "accidents". I assume you don't consider them intentional either.
So what was it?
There are drivers with over a million miles experience who haven't bent up ONE truck, let alone 3 times in 5 months. To most companies, that's a red flag.
And for good reason. It indicates carelessness at best and it gets worse from there. Bottom line, most companies and/or their insurance carriers don't want to take a chance on a careless or wreckless Big truck truck driver. Statistics have shown it's not cost effective --- and has the potential to cost them millions of dollars if a careless or wreckless driver crashes into another vehicle or more.
Can you blame them?
Second, there are companies who may employ you, be they big or small -- but you need to realize those companies will probably be what we in the industry call bottom-feeders.
They'll take advantage of your situation because they know you have no choice but to put up with it -- at least until your record clears up, or a few years of SPOTLESS driving with a shabby company. Of course, driving for those companies, it will probably not be easy to maintain a good driving record.
Expect shabby equipment that other drivers have thrashed and abused because they tend to hit things and bend things too. It might even be hard to find any damage you've done due to all the existing damage.
Third, at this point, it may be time to cut bait and count your losses. Big truck truckin' might not be your best ability. No shame in that.
Perhaps it's time to seek another line of work. That might be easier than trying to find something, ANYthing, suitable in the truckin' industry.
I don't know if you're eligible for a grant for re-training in another field, or not. But you might want to explore your options.
You're not in the best of positions right now to continue in the truckin' industry. You're going to HAVE to sell yourself to your next truck drivin' employer by convincing them you're up to the task -- but ONLY if you honestly believe you are.
I'm thinkin' one more mishap for ANY reason, and you can forget Big truck truckin' forever. There are too many applicants these days for the truvckin' companies to choose from with so many folks out of work and desperate to find employment -- and in direct competition with you for the same job.
Even if the other applicants don't have ANY experience, but have a clean driving record, they'll be hired before you.
At best, you're in for a LOT of work pounding the pavement, knocking on doors, making phone calls and applying over the internet. Expect to hear "I'm sorry" a LOT.
But if YOU start feelin' "sorry" for yourself -- your goose is cooked.
My advice is to own up to the "accidents". Don't just shrug them off as little, inconsequential incidents. Three "accidents" in five months IS a big deal -- and YOU need to realize that.
You're on the black list now, and it's going to be rough gettin' off of that list.
What you need to ask yourself is ---
is it worth the effort at this point?
I wish you the best, and hope things turn out well, whatever you decide.
baseballswthrt Thanks this.
