Sorry for being quiet today. I been running like a scalded cat. Drove about ten hours today. And what's more, I'm pulling a 42000 pound load and getting an average of 8.5 mpg and my new 2020 Freightliner Cascadia. Is that good or bad?

I get about 10-11 in my suburban and it only weighs 6300lbs and I live in Florida so it has never had to go up a hill....I would say you are doing pretty #### good if you look at it that way.

my v-6, 2004 ranger, 2 wd automatic, would only get me about 14 mpg's.....

I'm sorry to hear of the struggles and I'm sorry I'm late responding. Been busy few days for me. I hope that u have managed to get some answers to your hometime issue. But imho, first chance u get, find u a better company. I heard bad about that company 9yrs ago when I was driving, and now i hear they r even worse(didnt know it was possible). I do not know where you call "home" but they to tuff it out to get ur 3 to 6 months in and then find u a smaller carrier. In my experience, they tend to treat drivers a little better than the megas do. If u can tuff it out a year do that bc many more doors open up to u. But I know how it is being with a bad company. I tuffed it out a year at my starter company and bounced. Good luck to you with whatever happens. Keep ya head up. This job is just like many others. U cant start at the top, and some days, weeks, and months, its hell. But try focusing on the positive. Like I said, your technically getting paid to explore the USA once u get rolling. Sorry if all this has already been said, I'm still catching up on replies since I posted last. Lol

That's pretty good for a modern truck. Automagic transmission on mostly flat roads?

@dtj12231989 As the great 21st century poet Eminem once said, “...But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength
And just pull that #### out of you and get that motivation to not give up
And not be a quitter, no matter how bad you want to just fall flat on your face and collapse...”

Yeah it was the flat roads in Illinois, Indiana, and western Ohio. I went through Eastern Ohio, WV, Virginia, and almost to my drop point in NC today. My average mileage went down to about 7.7 mpg. I still think thats good, though.

Please do not take offense whatsover. The big fat banner yellow sticker on the face of the windshield constantly telling the driver its 13.6 foot high really chaps my ###. It's BS. If someone is so stupid they don't understand what a 13.5 inch truck will do against a 11.8 bridge and destroy the truck and trailer so be it.

Those caps on the drives need to come off. The airflow will keep the brakes cooler.
