Try Schnieder, US Express, Swift, any and every company. It doesn't have to be Illinois based or nearby. They will provide you transportation to get you where you need to be.

    wow ...

I think the FMCSA needs to make it a requirement to come here and listen to the truth - WE DO NOT HAVE A DRIVER'S SHORTAGE, WE NEED TO GET RID OF 20% MORE.

We have been for the last 11 months and will continue to have too much capacity and too many drivers. It is a carrier's employment market, and it won't change. I thought it would be ending in 3Q,25 but it will not end until 2026.
Well here is what you should do - SUE THE HELL OUT OF THE COMPANY FOR FRAUD.
No, it doesn't work that way, qualifications comes with experience, not with the license issue to you.
I have to be honest with you, some of the worst drivers I have seen went through this new system, it is such a joke.
    Yes ... Hell yes.

    Here is why.

The carriers are controlled by the insurance companies, they control everything about drivers and truck operation.

Being >400lbs means you are 50-60% at high risk of having a medical emergency while driving a truck - source my insurance underwriter.

This also means that you also have an 80% higher risk of becoming deceased in an accident.

This is beside other issues that I won't get into about fat drivers.

Now that said, the best solution is to lose weight because it isn't about YOU, it is about the safety of others around you.
Yeah I question the examiner, i think you should get a one year of a 3 month with a plan on losing weight
Hell yes there is, it should be a regulation that a driver can't be overweight as many are, they are a risk to everyone.

By the way I think back in 2012 there was a horrific accident in your state, the driver was so sick he passed out and ran into a bunch of cars, he was dead at the scene and they had one hell of a time getting him out of the truck - he was almost 450lbs according to the police report.
    Why?

I would never have done that, you should have stayed where you were at.

Never change jobs if it costs you money.
Stop using excuses, in this industry, it won't fly.
You don't understand why and what's going on. I won't get into it but it is NOT close to being political.

SO all of that said, I am going to offer you some really good advice and at least look into it.

I would go to my nearest FedEx Freight or UPS Freight location, fill out the app, put down everything honestly

Apply for being on the Dock, you want to be on the dock.

These jobs usually start out ~$20, UPS is a union shop which will give you a lot of benefits.

Then go to the doc, and lose weight. Dock work will give you the exersize that you do need.

You will eventually asked to drive, they will put you through a refresher course and you will end up in a truck but ...

It is up to you because right now your chances to find stable employment driving is <10%

I agree but he’s not having any luck and we’re in a recession. If he had a Chicago area zip code on his license he would get called back same week. Plus he did zero research and just expected to walk or waddle in to a $70000 dollar job. I feel bad for the guy but he doesn’t need any fluff, he’s got enough already. Some people man…

Search for fedex jobs on Craigslist nationwide. They hire thru contractors. Some contractors will take drivers with no experience. I know I saw at least one job posting recently for fedex team that hired with no experience. Found it on Craigslist. I don’t remember which city.

Melton Truck Lines hired me straight out of school. flew me to their main terminal, paid orientation and training and all. idk about your weight though but you should try. and if you NEED money, wash some dishes. sorry to tell you on repeat but for yourself as well as your job lose the weight, and also don't quit everything you have expecting x amount of pay or whatever you don't really need anyone to tell you that's foolish do you

You think Ohio is a "very long way" from Illinois?. Shoot, I live in the southern tip of Texas and El Paso is over 500 miles away, not to mention Amarillo.

If they haven't met you then I wouldn't think it's weight. But work on that. I'm up 12 lbs and I don't eat a lot. It's the sitting and I'm older. I planning on joining planet fitness so I can get into a gym once and a while. And maybe a folding bike. But yeah, haven't done it yet.
