Hi everyone,
I’m a recent CDL-A graduate with 168 accredited training hours, looking for help finding a company that will take on a new driver. I have no endorsements but am working on getting them this week when I can get to the DMV. I have no auto restriction either.
My MVR has two issues from 2019 — a speeding ticket and a driving on an expired license violation.
I’m located in Los Angeles, CA, but I’m not tied down and am open to relocating or using a different home base if that makes it easier.
I’d like to run OTR or western regional. So far, Swift said they can get me into orientation, but not for another month, and Schneider denied me due to the expired license violation. Melton had me set up to go to orientation then cancelled the week before due to wanting more experienced candidates.
I’d appreciate any recommendations or advice on companies that might give me a shot.
Thank you very much for any help

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.
Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round. -
Did you go with Swift? You gotta get expensive any way you can, then you'll have more options.

Western express won’t care about your expired license, they won’t care about anything else either.
ducnut and snowmantrucking101 Thank this. -
If the offer from Swift is indeed a bona-fide offer -- better take them up on it, becuz:
- Swift routinely hires & trains BRAND NEW drivers; thus, you will get the coaching/grooming/instruction/supervision to later be road-worthy & competent
- Swift is big enough to have the sufficient freight to keep you busy, & moving
- Swift has A LOT of terminals & dropyards across the US -- so with them, you have more parking options at the end of each shift. That doesn't seem like much now -- but later on...that will prove to be a BIG DEAL -- especially as a beginner driver
- Swift offers dry van, reefer, & flatbed freight options -- so if you play your cards right with them -- you can get exposure/experience with different freight types -- & without the usual hassles of changing carriers
