HI
I graduated school in 2010, I couldn't get much experience because I ran into some trouble a few months before starting school and was convicted a month before getting out of school (plead guilty to avoid going to prison) The past year I have been running the yard dog at a processing plant. Its a bs job so I am ready to hit the road.....I've been pre-hired by Swift and Big M transportation. I plan on goin with Big M at the moment I fly out for orientation January 6. Many older drivers tell me not to go right now because of the snow an ice...im nervous but i really hate my job! What should I do?
New Driver needs help..Is Winter really that bad?

Time you learn.truckindiva89, blairandgretchen, Chinatown and 2 others Thank this. -
Just be cautious, take it slow, drive in your comfort zone.
Chinatown, WorldofTransportation, Mr Ed and 4 others Thank this. -
Stay at your job until march .
Three months wont kill you .
On the other hand the ice and snow can kill you .
Not saying it will but it can .
It is easier to learn the ropes in the spring and then learn the winter thing after you get down the basics of road life .KW Cajun, Skydivedavec, Cranky Yankee and 2 others Thank this. -
No its not bad at all. Just dont be an idiot and dont let other drivers pressure you to go fast.
Mr Ed, truckindiva89, Chinatown and 6 others Thank this. -

Big-M has nicer looking trucks than TMC; can't blame her for wanting to hit the road.
Big-M must not be worried about putting you in one of those nice trucks in Jan. or they wouldn't.truckindiva89 Thanks this. -
Weather conditions can never be blamed for your failure to control your vehicle.
Also, start your own thread, dont hijack someone elses. -
gpsman, crxdc and truckindiva89 Thank this.
