New Feature: Companies "Discussed In This Thread"

We added a new feature to automatically present information (currently just reviews and jobs) about companies that have been mentioned in the thread. The goal is to let users get a quick overview of our members' impressions of the company, as well as other relevant information that the community has collected.
The information being displayed may develop more in the future, such as possibly linking out to other threads about the company, or displaying information about pay/salary at the company.

There are some very obvious limitations and gaps in this feature:

1) it only recognizes companies that have been added to the reviews section of the site, which is about 600 companies so far, and mostly just mid-to-large fleets. As members contribute information about more companies to the reviews section, it will recognize more companies that are mentioned.

2) it only recognizes companies based on keywords, and sometimes those keywords are very specific. For instance, if people are talking about Pride, the system will only recognize the company if a post mentions their full name, "Pride Transport."

3) The amount of companies displayed in the "mentioned in this discussion" box is limited to the 3 companies that were mentioned most frequently on that page. If we listed all the companies that were mentioned, the list would be so long that it would be a hassle for users to scroll past it on a mobile device.

 

No, the integration with the forum isn't deep enough for it to be turned on/off on a per user basis.
This feature had to be temporarily disabled to address a performance bug. When it's ready to be re-implemented later this week, there will be an opt-out setting you can choose in your account control panel.

'Discussed in this thread' has been re-enabled after patching a performance issue. If you would like to opt-out of company reviews being displayed in threads, you can click the 'Hide Discussed in this thread' option in your user account preferences:
