Just looking for some new, as of 6/19, thoughts.
This month has been slower for me, but still averaging 2200/week. Not good, I know, but was on the East Coast, and even had one 150 mile, two stop load, so.... (With the xtra stop and shorthaul pay, it paid $0.84/mile, though). Spent 24 hours in the Indy terminal for some tractor work, and a couple of days, on the weekend, in a motel (my buck, of course).
Idle thing is going to get out of hand, I can see. When I got the truck, it was 75% (just out of shop, so 2 minutes idling was 75% of 3 minutes running, LOL), I got it down to 13%, but now it is getting really hot, and even though I bought a 12 volt fan, in the last two days running, idle % has shot up to 18%. That's just 2 nights worth, and I even woke up in the middle of the night and shut it off.
The thing I really hate is you don't get any credit for the time you are in the truck with it not running. Aught to be some way to get credit for that, IMHO.
Anyway, same old ####, but by the end of the Summer, that idling thing may make me look elsewhere. Oh, that and the deal that I have been told that if I take my vacation, I will have to clean out my truck (Sad Panda, you were right about that!)
But, like I've said on other posts, it is what it is, no one has a gun to my head making me stay here.
How's it going for you?
New Knight thread-bad times? Or not?

Don't know why Knight Trans dose that. At KR you take the truck home with you when you go on vacation. Just like any other time. The truck is yours till you get a new one or quite. Just one more reason why the dark side is the right side.

Not sure what it means, but Mpls term used to have KC KS for our shop term, but now it is Joliet. But since you get work done wherever you happen to be when you need it, don't know what difference it makes.
Seems like Knight is just tightening it's belt some, which in these economic times just makes sense to me.
As far as the "empty search" goes, since freight is down, it doesn't seem to be as big a problem lately. -
i'm not really digging this sliding scale and per diem bullcrap. i dunno if it's just coincidence or not. my average load is about 1100 miles a piece. with per diem and a sliding scale, i feel as if i'm getting screwed two times over.
i've also been idling the truck for the last few hours. it's over 100º outside. i woke up to a sickening dizzy feeling. got out of the truck and felt like the world was shaking all around me. after making my way into the t/s store to buy water. i sat outside for about an hour and a half, downing the water i had bought, and putting myself back together. i haven't had to pee since downing the near gallon of water.
hopefully some local driving job prospects come through for me. i'll take the hourly pay over this cpm sliding scale, per diem crap any day. -
