Ive got a few questions about Knight...
*Do they still operate petes, if so whats my chance of getting one
*Any info about the Hutchins,TX terminal?
*and what could i expect during orientation -
Saying you did go, orientation ? You will spend three days doing stuff that can be done in a day. This is your first glimpse at how stupid and unorganized they are. On break you will go outside and see drivers with no loads. This is who your replacing.
The shop guy will make it sound like your the reason he has a job and he will personally make sure your lock stock and barrel ready to run. He's lieing, he hates you and your problems with your truck.
They will outline all the extra pay you can earn. It's a lie they don't pay you anything extra.
One of your fellow classmates will get up and leave. Ask him for a ride home.bamanation and truckerdave1970 Thank this. -
I detect some bitterness, but I suppose I feel the way about another certain company. I don't have any recent experience so my options are somewhat limited. But I read good and bad things about knight, as well as any other company. I was mainly curious about their hutchins terminal. If you want to feel bad for me know that I drove for K&B transportation, one of the sorriest, pisspore outfits there are.

Well...yea your right, I'm bitter. 3 companies I have worked for and nobody got me as bad as Knight did. They treat drivers as sub humans, they are dishonest and they steal. I'm not a driver to make friends I am here to drive and if your dumb rules are going to put me into contact with your people then at least try to treat a driver with dignity. Can you do worse than Knight ? Of course not. Any company that does not respect my need to earn a living wage is not one that I'll work for.
That was opinion above but one fact is there are currently more drivers than freight. The larger the company the worse it's going to be. All knight needs is about 1200 miles a week per truck and their good and they won't be too anxious to get you anymore. You'll come in to work and you'll need an empty trailer. They will have go to Ft Worth and live unload unpaid for an mt. Then you'll drive out to Hawkins and get a water load to a Houston Sams club for a 4am delivery. How's that for a Monday ?
Maybe they have changed in the last few months. But their still running those same stupid adds in every trucking rag and it's sure not due to growth. -
what companies would you suggest then for a driver with 2 years otr but no recent experience in the last year and a half. No accidents or tickets within the last 3 years. I'm not being a ########, i'm open to suggestions.

Your not being a pain at all. Just doing your research. With no recent expieriance that might put you back to ground zero. In that case you might try Knights training program. They run the hell out of them for obvious reasons. The company is called Squire, it's their training division. Just do what you have to do and then run like hell after you find a new job. That's all Knight wants you for anyways. Once you start figuring out how much their taking advantage of you and calling them out, their ready to replace you.
I missed the part where you stated you didn't have any recent expieriance. Sorry about that. Hopefully they will look at that as they don't have to reach you the basics, they just have to teach you how to take as the gratefull immigrant they wish you were.
