    Another Thing.
If after you hook hoses up to pump on truck/tank, and you’ve left sight of it, check someone has not opened drain/or flipped switches, some do that because they can.

Same as the loader going to inspect your wagon for a preload at 15:30 on a friday.
You know you will have a wet trailer despite checking/mopping when he climbs up holding his gloves...
one of which has just enough water to reject your tank.

Nobody with any time in this indiustry climbs a tank ladder with bare hands, you never know what could be on there.

Do things the same way every time
If it’s a gravity or pump off, make sure you always have proper venting to the trailer you’re offloading, and to the tank your filling.
Double and triple check everything before you open a valve or load head. always check and re-check that placards are correct. Check and re-check that your BOL and all paperwork is in order and that the UN number on the paperwork matches what you loaded. Make sure all your permits and paperwork in the truck are also correct.

We all forgot the one MOST important item...having the receiving customer sign, before off-loading a drop, that it is the right stuff into the right connection.

I've seen it save a driver more than once!

^^^ What he said. the few times I have had issues and had to call the company, the first thing they asked was if I had gotten the customer to sign the delivery receipt saying that the product was correct, the connections were correct and that they had room for the product. Same for getting loaded. Drivers that didn't get the signatures and had issues were usually fired.

Driving home one night and the nextel squawks [remember nextel?].
Dispatrch had a call from NJ DEP about a spill.
Driver had just rolled in and reported it was signed off and there was no spill.
Customer's tank had a leak and it let a caustic liquid laundry soap run out in the alley, the same alley a bicycle police officer pedaled down every morning wondering why the white flakes sprayed from his tires was burning his bare legs....
I called the DEP back and reported my findings and they said, thanks; fax a copy to 609.xxx.xxxx, confirmed the number and they said thanks.
Shortest call with that organization, ever!

Always double check when you are connecting hoses and fittings that they have gaskets.....cause it will make a big mess........ ask me how I know :
