    That's not a Peterbilt...thats a curb sniffing peter eater
Does Paccar give you the option of paper or plastic for the bag to wear over your head so as not to be seen when driving ?

The Phase 2 GHG/fuel economy standards operate on a point system that covers all models that a manufacturer makes. For the next couple years they can operate at a deficit but once it’s fully implemented (2025 I think but can’t recall for sure) they won’t be able to. So basically at that point they will need to sell aerodynamic highway trucks to offset the specialty and vocational trucks that will be a lot lower points. That’s what will force the sunsetting of traditional hood trucks.

I’ve been driving for 31 years this year, I remember old timers back then talking about us new door slammer driving school graduates and the end of trucking and how trucks would be driving themselves pretty soon… hasn’t happened yet and yes they’ve been talking about self driving technology for that long.
Life and trucking will be what you make of it, I still love looking out the windshield of my W990, yes 990. I’m more comfortable in this new generation, it rides better, is quieter and I can stand my 6’ 3” but right up out of the driver seat. And I really like my auto shift transmission.

It still takes me to navigate this ride around the highways, city streets, job sites and parking lots and I take pride in every safe load delivered.

Heres what i think is going to happen .Companies are going to make more aero trucks till 2030 or 2035 till the infrastructure to charge heavy duty trucks is put together and the power grids can handle the loads. You will still see some 379 389 but they will be rare . Fuel prices and gas prices will actually come down as mostly everyone will have electric or hybrid cars.govt might ban epa 2013 and earlier engines by then if the technology to burn soot and mpg gets better. Time bring change and as a smart businessperson we need to go with the change. Because time will leave you behind and the catchup game never happens.good examples are blockbusters, nokia, blackberry , polaroid and many more.

There are states that have rolling brown outs with their current generating capacity. I've heard of no plans much less actual approved permits or designs to build the sort of massive nuclear plants it will take to power that many trucks. That's around the same time they want there to be an end to coal power, we're not building solar and windmills fast enough just to replace coal for our current needs much less the equivalent of adding hundreds of thousands homes sucking on the grid every day.
I don't see there being a single big fleet, more than a hundred trucks, that is majority electric in the next 20 years even.
