And how long are the trucks going to sit on charge?
    12-48 hours?
    On 500-1000 miles say.

    Wait..
Then we could actually have a truck shortage!
“Nope, can’t get your load delivered today... or tomorrow, truck is on the charger.”

    New excuse.

The big fleets have terminals all over the place so they might have their own grids and some interchange charging programs with other big fleets .but how this current administration is acting everything is pointing towards electric vehicles .

12 to 15 years is a long time they will have long lasting batteries running 600 to 700 miles under a load. Then plug it for 10 .

To me a truck is a piece of revenue generating equipment. Sure I love to look at the old truck, but I don’t want to drive a B61 with a 711 and a triplex everyday. I don’t hear construction companies lament the days of cable operated dozers or farmers wanting to go back to two cylinders John Deere’s. Only truckers

I hear that, but it seems like the evidence for change is more abundant now than ever before. But in regards to the 990.. I just got the W9L but if and when it comes down to it, the 990 will be my next choice. Newer is better in some regards but I’m still not a huge fan of too many mandated driving aids in our near future or electronic dashes.

Doesn't matter if they have terminals everywhere unless they're going to have some giant generators charging massive batteries 24/7 to keep up. One charge on a truck is about a megawatt from what I've been able to find. Ten charges, ten days of that truck running the road, it will use as much electricity as one average house hold does in a year. The sheer amount of power necessary is what is standing in the way. How the government is acting currently I expect a return to the dark ages in the next few years.

And where are all the mines providing the toxic materials needed to produce all of these massive batteries? Where are all the toxic waste dumps needed to dispose of said batteries when they are worn out? This "go green" push is so short sighted it's almost beyond belief!

And it seems like no one is accounting for NET weight on 5 axles, air temperatures and hill climbs.. all these other factors outside of charging ability that need to be factored in.

Nobody seems to be thinking about any aspect of it beyond "get rid of the ewwey oil industry." They seem to have no idea how much petro chemicals are still going to be involved in their plastic electric fantasy. They have no clue that gas and fuel will still have to be refined out of oil to make their plastic garbage and it will still have to be disposed of somehow. It'd be hilarious to watch if they weren't trying to force us to participate.

California alone will have to increase power grid in the state 15 fold of current capacity.
That’s a lot of mining for natural resources to make the wire and insulators. New steel for the power lines and lots of other things. Pipe dream. Hell Iowa 80 will need its own substation every truck pulling 440, yeah can you say overload. That’s just one truck stop not to mention cars trucks homes and such. Be a long long time to get electric grid to that capacity. Maybe a new administrator will bite this nonsense in the butt. I agree use electric where it makes sense but 90% of vehicles don’t see it happening in next 50 years
