I am going to school on my own. I had thought about driver solutions. Does USA pick their own grads over other grads? I know that I won't be into them for any $ so I am curious if anyone can help.

Per recruiter (Brian) when I did my app,it was for USA directly. He did not say anything about any other carrier. I was sent a letter in the mail from DS with USA on it and on the drivers solution page under applicant dashboard it specifically states, this contract is for USA truck.

I have been talking with DS in Indy directly for C1 school. In the process of having the state fund the costs (no job in a long time). As far as companies hiring they have more than just USA so when you go, fill out as many apps as you can while your there. Also as I understand it the companied hire through recruiters and DS in indy (C1) has plenty of recruiters hiring from there school. When are you going? I am hoping to go in a few weeks but no answers yet...

I am enrolled at CDI in South Bend Indiana. I am starting my second week on Monday. I wanted to know if USA took students from C1 before they took students from other schools. The state paid mine also. You will really like going to school. Good luck.

I went to a local school in MI and am looking to be there on April 22. Sorry I can't give you a direct answer to your question. They do talk to new drivers from schools all over.

Yep, looks like the same deal. The recruiter there said to give her a call as soon as I had my CDL in hand. Since this was five days after class ended there was no way for me to go in right away. It takes the state of MI at least 10 days to get the hardcopy of your license to you after passing the final CDL road test. Go figure. So as soon as I had it in hand I called. She said Aprill 22. And to get in that session I have to call a week earlier to confirm with her that I still want them and they still want me. If yes, I will insist on getting a written confirmation. (Burned once already :biggrin_25510:) I recommend you do the same no matter who you go with.

Proabaly not. Heather was the same lady I talked to at USA when I went through C1.

As for hiring, :p You have to decide if it's good or bad. The last 6 weeks they have had 50+ in each orientation class. I would venture to say that 80 precent of those complete their 4 to 6 weeks OTR training and get their own truck.

Truck? Out of my class I ended up with a 2006 9600i, no inverter, no APU but it only had 206,800 miles on it. So far it seems to run pretty good. Just got spoiled in the new Prostar the trainer had.

Three others that were in the same class as me, 2 got older Prostars and 1 got a rather new one. It appears that your Fleet Manager hands out trucks from what he has available in his fleet. Flip a coin I guess.

Miles? Who knows. This is my second week going solo. My first week I ended up with the following:
    539 loaded 2 empty
    581 loaded 18 empty
    750 loaded 39 empty
    817 loaded 91 empty

    Total
    2687 loaded 150 empty

    Started this week with

1107 loaded 130 empty delivers tomorrow morning

Granted this is all new to me but as of yet I can't really complain.
