Howard Transportation in Ellisville is a private fleet for Howard Industries. Flatbed that hires new cdl grads. They run about 150 trucks spread out over 3 terminals. They haul electrical components. I think the Ellisville terminal hauls mostly electrical transformers.

Well the best way I can say it is "that was then...and this is now." I offered sound advise to the wanna be.

Add up all the time you spend working on truck related duties. It is slave labor. This is why the vast majority of the trucking companies do everything in their power to limit and scam drivers back to the stone age. Its about greed. The trucking industry still loves working the per mile system from the 1940s. Now with all the outrages regulations including the lame HOS regs etc etc.....I would stay away. I was already here.

If you calculate the amount of time you work and engage in truck relates duties you will discover you make way less than 16 yo fast food kid working over the summer (per hr).

Some drivers like foodservice and make real good money. It's a good fit for drivers that like lots of hometime and don't mind unloading.

Pay varies by company. I'd give a guess of about 32 to 35 cents a mile for a new driver. Think of it this way. Whatever cpm a company offers, that is roughly how much you will make per year (34 cents = $34,000 year).

    Just passing by Thanks this.

Good luck! Take the time to meet the personnel at the terminal before you make a decision...
