I just found out that USA put me on their per-diem program after, in orientation, I specifically checked the box to not enroll me in per-diem. I guess I'll be on the phone with payroll on Monday. I'm on my hometime now and don't want to be bothered. Other than that I've had a decent week. 2576 miles. I know to a lot of drivers thats chump change but I'm content with that.:biggrin_25520: I met a few drivers this week on the road who were bad mouthing USA. I've learned to just make them think that you're listening and play music in the back of your head. It really works. However, be warned that if you choose to play one of your favorite songs in the back of your head you run the risk of bursting out in song right in the middle of one of the rants. That actually helps move them along too. Either way I'm rambling, my point is that I have to get my feet wet somewhere and so far USA is not that bad of a pond to step into barefoot:biggrin_25525:

It's been a while since my last post but thats only because there hasn't been a lot to report. I haven't had anymore accidents and the truck has been running great. I'm averaging 2700-3000 miles a week and the money is pretty good. You have to remember though, that I'm speaking as a newbie coming off of 3mos unemployment so we may not share the same view when it comes to good pay:biggrin_25523:. But I'm satisfied with the company as a whole. I'll try to post a sooner than two months at a time.

Cjoe85 since you're out on the road in your own truck, could you share what the truck has in it when you receive it?

i've been looking at USA and Drivers Solutions, this looks better than PAM due to a closer terminal in Ohio to my hometown. but their website when you look to see the trucks just links you to the manufacturers page which of course shows the trucks fully decked out with mini fridge, tv and microwave.

When I started on my own in Jan 08, I was given an 2006 International with about 406, 000 miles. There were no "extras". It did not have a fridge, tv or microwave. Inverters of any size are not allowed in trucks. Don't expect anything special.
-cloth air ride driver and passenger seats
    -heat/ac for cab and sleeper
    -cb hookup
-radio with cassette or cd player
That's about it for options. Hopefully you'll get one that runs good and goes in the direction that the steering wheel is pointed. lol

In May I was given an 2008 International Prostar. It's an automatic. I was one of the lucky ones because my truck has an APU. I haven't bought a fridge or microwave yet but I plan to. I'll save tons of money on food when I do.

Sorry Drachen but Enigma is completely right. When you get your truck that is exactly what you get, a truck. You have to build it from the ground up basically. It took me a few months to get everything in mine but I'm cheap and like to shop around. :biggrin_25520: But now I have a satellite radio (mostly because my truck only has a cassette player and trying to change stations every town got annoying), cb radio (on sale at Pilot), a plug-in cooler from wal-mart (works pretty good), my laptop (most USA terminals have free Wi-Fi). I don't have a TV in my truck yet. Most times when I feel like watching TV I stop at a flying J, TA, or one of the terminals. That works for me. But like I said before Enigma is right, you get the truck and nothing more from USA.

Hey Enigma how long have you been with the company and what's your truck number. I still have the 9400i and will probably have it for a while. It only has like 398 on the odometer. Either way I'm 8040. See you on the road.

i wasn't expecting all that in the truck i just wondered given how they link to their trucks like that.

thank you for the information guys.

Edit - should the fact that Enigmas truck has an APU be seen as a sign the company will be having them on all newly purchased trucks? or was that just what the dealer had on the lot and they wanted the new truck 'there and then'?
