Newer Peterbilts Vs Freightliners Question

    What are the notable differences between driving a peterbilt389/KW900 and a freightliner/Volvo
    Besides Them looking better?

    Lots of space inside a Cascadia, and probably better MPG's. Tighter turn radius too.

    There's a company i applied for need 2+ year safe experience. Looks like there going to take me
    There trucks are 389s w900l and even some Mack anthems. I've only driven freightliners/international/volvos

    A Cascadia doesn’t come with an 86” Studio Sleeper tho. So there’s even more room in a W9.

    I've driven 2018-2021 freightliner.

    The 2020 & 2021 trucks AC doesn't work when parked. Other drivers are complaining about the same thing. Last year I turned it in to Freightliner 4 times, never got fixed.

    2018 best year I drove so far. Truck turns on to cool the cab. In the new trucks the interior discomfort mode doesn't seem to work.

    New years are better for solo drivers. When you are in the front seat, the older models you can stand straight up. I keep hitting my head on the newer years, the overhead shelving sticks out a lot farther.

    The ladder on newer years to the top bunk is junk. The older year side-steppers were a lot better. But some truckers are fat so.... yeah.

    Of course the skinnier driver will take the bottom bunk, especially if he has a CPAP. So he puts up the ladder now I'm stuck up top. I have to ninja jump off the top bunk at night to go pee.

    All freightliner years leak water when it rains. Don't leave any papers on the dashboard.

    I have driven all the above ranging from 2016 to 2019s. The 389s arent as roomy inside as the others but tend to be easier to get at things. Cubbies also seem a hair deeper wider though more narrow. They also tend to have the most comfortable seats and a bit more room between the wheel and dash. 389s also seem to ride either butter smooth or like a paintcan full of rocks in a shaker depending on the trailer combo and individual truck. Some can feel a bit short if your over 6' though. cubby layout is the best of all 4 though.

    W900s can be by far the largest inside depending on sleeper. They have more cubbys and places to store things, The bunk vents are in the best places to be comfortable to me at least and they have a pretty good ride. Bit tight for me though due to being over 6' in the seat with how far forward they ride. May have been the seat granted but i didnt like it much. Also didnt inflate as tall so my knees rode up. Lastly they are the worst to get into the back with if your tall and they have the wider seats. Way too narrow to be enjoyable for ME at least. But im also 6'2" so ymmv. The sofa and table are a nice touch too. Though the desk can get in the way of the fridge if again your over 6' and gotta bend way down. Bunk also feels a bit too short.

    Weeny trucks alway ALWAYS leak. Where and how much varies but i have driven 10 and they all leak even brand new. Also have everything stuffed into weird corners and the cubbies are aquardly placed at least for me. They are by FAR the most comfortable from a seat position wise stance of any of the rigs though. However, they got the moniker of freight shaker for a reason. They always tend to ride rougher then other trucks and the plastic they use EVERYWHERE always starts to squeek after a few months. Also tends to crack after a year or two very easily. Stupid easy to get into the back though, nice wide isle and have the best fridge and microwave layout IMO.

    Volvos are the most cramped option in every way save getting between the seats imo. They are very uncomfortable and every time ive had to drive one i am constantly bumping into stuff just because it seems like they were designed for a dwarf. The cubby layout is....aquard as is the climate control position. Also never liked where the outlets were. And finally if your over 6' expect to ride much lower then is comfortable.for your knees. I have nothing good to say about volvos but again for someone my size they are a poor fit.

    Honestly i like my pete 579. Of every truck i have driven i like its layout the most. The 80" sleeper also feel much much larger then the size suggests and even for a midroof is stupidly roomy inside. Seats go up plenty far and back plenty far so my long ### legs dont cramp. And it rides like oil on glass even with an end dump in potholearado.

    But these are just MY opinions.

    Cascadias Volvo’s ride smoother and turn sharper . The hoods are trucks you’re proud to drive in most cases .

    My '13 Cascadia has 700k miles, was wrecked and rebuild before 375k, and has zero cracks, squeaks or rattles, except for one rattle i notice sometimes when I climb a hill fully loaded at too low of a rpm, somewhere above the passenger visor.

    It may have been an issue with some of the older cheaper models, but I've driven two Cascadias and not run into the squeaks and rattles yet.
