I did not say they won't take you, I said you gain nothing because you have to go through the same process with or without a CDL.
Call ######## all you want. We don't need another know it all with zero experience entering our profession. This is what we all hate.
Now as for you not believing that there are companies that wont train you if you have a CDL, I invite you to call Prime and tell them you want to get started in trucking. Find out all you can and then tell them you already have your CDL. They will send you away. Why you ask? Because they can make more off training and tax credits if they train those without a CDL. Yes, you have a lot to learn. The Mega-Companies are so driven by greed and profit that they will shoot their mother for an extra buck.

Read the OPs post. He has ten years experience; he doesnt want to be trained, he is looking to be hired and put on the road. Besides my Post 3 covered all that. In addition, I said this, The bad news is with no OTR experience and no training, your chances of getting hired are slim and none with slim looking pretty unlikely.
Im still waiting on that list of those companies you spoke about.
no experience, just got my cdl, jobs?

I am trying to decide if I should go to trucking school or pursue an expedited path, similar to this one with the exception that I will actually take the test in a tractor trailer. I found a school that will let me pay to rent the truck per hour and then take me for the road test.
Is it possible if someone got their CDL this way to team up with an O/O to get the 1 yr experience? I was thinking that if I let the O/O pay me a company rate while I got OJT and racked up miles for him that might work. Is this a possibility. I figure the O/O might not have the same restrictions as a mega company and since he could market himself as an O/O team it could be lucrative for him as well. Am I barking up an imaginary tree here?
BTW - In response to the OP, I wouldn't brag about the fact that you took your test in a dump truck with a flat trailer or the fact that it was "very, very easy" if you want even the 5% BigJohn spoke of to take you seriously. I mean, you are essentially asking somebody to let you drive their $75,000 (or more) truck as your first (literally) time driving a rig. -
Awesome to hear that. I am studying for my CDL and Hazmat endorsement now. Any idea which companies I should be researching? Companies that you mentioned would hire and train drivers with no experience.
Any help with this matter would be awesome. -
EDIT: Didn't notice how old the post was.
