Is that it, or is it a fear of it burning the truck to the ground?
I've never used one, but I read here before of that sort of thing happening.
No inverters allowed in Swift company trucks???

Enjoy your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and/or spending tons of money eating out every night...
If I ever went OTR again I would need an APU or some sort of other way to power a fridge. I spent enough nights eating ham sandwiches out of a trash 12v cooler to ever want to do it again. Thanks for buying cheap trucks, Schneider!bigkev1115 Thanks this. -
I was never personally worried about a fire. My fusee's would all crap out because of overload before it got to that point.

With the driver facing cameras I am surprised Swift doesn't have a current drain detector on the cigarette lighter plugs to catch people using an inverter. I ordered one off Amazon 4 or 5 years ago, was onsale for $25, is 750 watts, been all over the world and it still works.

It is more they don't trust there shop guys or driver to properly install them and therefore fear truck burning down... A properly installed inverter will not burn down a truck it should have an inline fuse off the battery terminal or hookup point if coming off APU or other designed point ( I am unsure if manufacturers make wiring points for an inverter to be installed without out hard wiring directly to battery but seems like it wouldn't be a far stretch for them to do so)FerrissWheel, UsualSuspect, CSDixon and 1 other person Thank this.

Just learn how to install your own inverter. My idiot company put weak inverters in our trucks that don't power a thing. I told them about this numerous times and they didn't care. So I bought my own 3000 watt inverter and installed it in less than two minutes.Marcus_from_Lafayette Thanks this.

P&s doesn't allow hard wired inverters in their company trucks or lease trucks. Their concern is because some drivers just don't care to learn how to do it correctly. They've had a few trucks catch fire because drivers put one in, ran the power through a floor threshold without putting in a grommet of other protection, then they don't put in am inline fuse. After several days or weeks they have a short, and the truck catches fire.
Wiring one in is no different than installing an stereo amplifier. Do it correctly, and you'll never have an issue except having to idle the truck due to battery drainEZ Money Thanks this. -
Well car stereos also have the ignition wire and inverters are just positive and negative leads.

The best thing you can do for yourself in this situation, is sever all connection with swift. Go to Prime Inc instead.
The second best thing you can do, is get a 400watt inverter. And just unplug it whenever you're at a swift terminal. -
Car stereos yes, stereo amplifies, not so much. A basic amp will wire in the same way as a an inverter
