    Don’t go there.

Here at TTR we welcome all kinds. Current truckers, former truckers, retired truckers, truckers’ wives and/or children, and even wannabes are welcome to join as long as they follow our rules.

Yup, Trump really showed that famously left wing organization - the ATA whose president has ZERO ties to the Republican Party in general and Trump specifically. [note bene - sarcasm]

Speed limiters are a wholly bipartisan issue - lots of support on both sides of the aisle. Yet the groups providing most of the funding are run by individuals with strong right wing affiliations. Heck, Chris Lofgren is on record for a national 60 mph speed limit.

Meanwhile, I'm against speed limiters. One of about three "Lefties" that post on TTR. Saying this is a lefty defeat is missing the larger picture: Bush dragged his feet, Obama dragged his feet, Trump dragged his feet, Biden dragged his feet - all the while the ATA has been working to create speed limiter regulations that they like.

The latter part of your comment has been common horse sense for years, at least since 1952 according to my Case tractor manual.

Sadly everyone seems reliant on electronics these days…..

It seems a bit counterintuitive for one on your side of the aisle to be opposed to a government regulation.

The belief that the 'left' or 'liberals' love government regulation is a fallacy. As is the belief that conservatives are against regulations. It's a more a question of what and who is being regulated.

The right loves regulations - provided they require adherence to strict norms and traditional social roles. Please see all the laws and bills mandating the posting of the Ten Commandments, or banning books. Or when the regulations favor large, established businesses and restrict the growth of new entrants (please see Chris Lofgren).

Neither side wants government to stay out of our lives for both the left and the right, limited government is a myth. The left is just more honest in their rhetoric.

I dont think this will solve the issues that many think is unsafe. Companies will still have speed limiters and those cattle haulers will still do over 100+ not on a hill, either had it say 101 and 102 on a radar before on my truck when I was OTR and doing a lot beef runs in Kansas. The other part wont change CA 55 not that many truckers go 55 anyway, and won't solve certain cities with speed limits lower then the rest flow traffic.

This doesn't solve real trucker issues in my opinion. How about true generous incentives for mom and pops to build bigger parking lots that hits every trucker I know is parking. I truly think the only way solve the issue of parking is a reimbursement program to companies who build parking for truckers, which would offset the price to build some of these places. And the state and federal would both pay a portion but there would need to be an inspector to make sure there's no fraud of course. And they need stop having the government making them because they think hundreds of millions dollars equal 20 parking spots for both sides highway.
