i’ve wore a hat/cap since i was a kid.
The started with rules like this in school, At first it was like military, hats off in buildings.
Then our principal came up with rule, “All people who wear hats/caps are on a gang!”
We had a cop then as a “resource officer” they made a job for a cop who could do nothing else back then, walking halls with a drug dog.
I’ll just leave the place of business and do nothing there, just like if i see a sign “No trucks allowed” I figure they mean “no truck drivers either” but afraid of stereotyping.
No wearing hats in truck stop

We have a law here in France preventing anyone wearing a face covering, it has been opposed by many as being unfair and discriminatory towards Muslim women, but, although it is useful in identifying miscreants, the real reason is the strict non-religious law passed 100 years ago and harks right back to the Revolution.
The official position of France is that of 'laicity', that is no official religion is allowed. Thus school teachers are not allowed to wear on view symbols such as crosses or the Star of David, same with Islamic adornments. It all harks back to the Revolution when the Church and its priests were commonly thought to be on the side of the monarchy and owned vast estates to which the poor had to pay taxes. A few weeks ago the President visited a synagogue and was widely criticised for it.
Strangely, the UK which is much less religious than France has no such law and in fact the Church of England has an official position as the State religion.Rideandrepair, Oxbow, mjd4277 and 2 others Thank this. -
Bet it's all about they got facial recognition software now on their cameras. Walmart has it when you walk in and if you have a baseball cap on and be looking downwards walking in, it messes with the facial recognition, and they don't like that.

Not sure about France, but it won't be far behind, but in the UK cameras are everywhere and the first thing the police do if there is a serious crime is go down the street and collect all the footage. They solve a lot of crimes that way, especially as they have the equipment to zoom and enhance that most of us could only dream of.

Had that happen in the old main library in Austin about 15 years ago. Security dude told me to either take it off or turn it around backward. I told him I don't wear my cap backwards. He seemed like he was gonna turn the whole thing into a federal offense so I took it off.
The library was a hangout for homeless people and they had had alot of problems on that front.
Only happened that one time.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
I wonder how they feel about turbines
