For future reference, you did the wrong Jedi mind trick. You were supposed to avoid eye contact, and keep going. "This is not the truck you want. There are others that are much more interesting. Move along, driver." Instead you said, "Pick me! Pick me! Duh Huh!!!!"

Btw, Smokey was blowing smoke. If he had you, he would have opened up the green and white bible on you and made you a believer. But he didn't.

he was throwing rope out to see if you would hang yourself by admitting to something wrong.

cops ask questions that can give them probable cause to investigate further

    You gave the right answers.

How about you guys get in your mind that many drivers are crap drivers and think the rules don't apply to them so they try to get away with as much as possible - very unprofessional.

I tell my drivers this - do not argue with the guy who has the ticket book you will lose and it will cost you money to deal with it. He finds something, talk as an adult, ask him how to mitigate the issue in the future if possible and we will deal with it but don't argue like YOU know more than he does, that's stupid.

    No ticket
Gave me insertion report with the light I have to fix and get back to Alabama in 15 days.

He could have put me OOS . the spare tire I had under my trailer wasn't secured. Put zipnties on it, forgot I didn't pad lock it. And of course they broke.

But he let me fix that and sent me on.

Yeah I def wouldn't have argued about it.even tho I thought I was right about the line 2. I'm gonna continue to do it. No way I'm wasting time at shippers and receivers. Even on paper.

Remember to show some ON DUTY time at the customer before you log SLEEPER. Have to show how you checked in, opened doors, slid tandems backed to dock etc.

Here is the regs, not just the guidance. It's found at eCFR — Code of Federal Regulations
On-duty time means all time from the time a driver begins to work or is required to be in readiness to work until the time the driver is relieved from work and all responsibility for performing work. On-duty time shall include:

    (1) All time at a plant, terminal, facility, or other property of a motor carrier or shipper, or on any public property, waiting to be dispatched, unless the driver has been relieved from duty by the motor carrier"

So yes the offericer was wrong. Since he didn't write a ticket or even a warning I would be like "Yes sir!" and forget about it.

Note it says the motor carrier has to release you from duty. Most just give a form in the permit book to cover this.
